Why do they called "bigfoot" bigfoot?

Noone answered correctly so I will let you know. Very close to where the Patterson film (the famous one with the female bigfoot walking away) but 10 years earlier, a large male bigfoot was visiting a construction crew building the road above Bluff Creek. After a few visits, a newspaper man in Eureka asked Jerry Crew to make plaster casts. He did and brought them to the Eureka paper and they coined the name. The rest is history.

LOL, I've been to the Bigfoot Store in Northern California ( along Hwy 101). Bigfoot is called Bigfoot because of his/her huge footprints. I used to drive around Bigfoot country, and I fully expected something to jump outta the woods.

Because people would find "bigfoot" tracks in the woods. Thus making his name bigfoot... We do not even know that bigfoot really exists so that name only makes sense.
