Why do we have hairs in our armpit?

And not on gorilla, orang utan or any other monkey's armpit?

There are two main reasons why we have hair in our underarms. The first and probably the main reason is that armpit hair collect our pheromons. Yeah, pheromons cause that smell when we get sweaty. Some people, usually men, have stronger pheromons hence their armpits smell really bad. There is a myth that if you shave off your armpit hair you won’t smell so much. Not true, hair itself doesn’t smell. It’s those pheromons that produce the smell, hair is only means how they get out of the body.

Second theory suggests that armpit hair helps to lessen the friction on the sking when we move our arms. I’m not sure how true this is because I don’t know anyone with shaved armpits who would have problems with friction.

It's the same reason why we have hairs at the crack....it' a sign of wisdom.....OMG I'm ROTFLMAO.....

It's sexy to have hairs in our armpit... But I don't want..

Probably has to do with sweat. We are the only ape that sweats. Apes are suppose to stay where there are trees so that they can escape by climbing up a tree. We stand on two feet which allowed running away for escape. We developed sweat glands to cool us off when we have to run. Since armpits are already warm the hairs probably help the sweat cool the area with saturated material.

Ken
i rather shave it than be hairy
