Don't just other nations by American standard. America doens't have enough history or culture to judge others by.

China has been around for thousands and thousands of years, so in between those years, people have found MANY things to eat. It's just culture. Why do French people eat snails?

Is China the only place where animals are tortured? Is this a valid question? Are you telling me that Americans never torture their own people?

Actually, are you talking about Tibet? If Hawaiis wanted to split from America, would the American government just let her go? Or is it going to use force to stop the rebellion?

What about the rest of the worlds animals, a nice little baa lamb jumping about the fields, should that not be eaten? A nice doleful eyed cow , shouldnt that be chopped into burgers?
Animals have been eaten ever since they were first found.

Yes, some Chinese people eats dogs. But they are usually farmed not your typical pets. Korean eat "farmed" dogs too.

Don't judge. There are people with Pet pigs, does that mean we should stop eating pork?

They killed a lot of dogs in the street due to fear of Rabies. India is doing the same thing, how come you don't question that?

It's really childish to ask "WHY" coz then why do we have violence? why do we have war? why are men capable of killing each other? Although I think eating dogs is cruel, it's a dish in China. Like people frying endangered tarantulas in Africa. Comparing the two, I'd say eating an endangered animal is worse, although there are more aspects to it.

And torturing people? You meant human rights. Some of the reports are fake, some are not--it's really hard to distinguish coz incidents in China have always been frenzied and fabricated. There are always 2 sides to the story. There are ttttttttooooooooo many cases, and I'm not gonna go into the details. But, don't you think it's extremely difficult for a 1-party government to reach to every single one of the 1.3 billion people?

It doesn't mean that the western world is free of harm and "inhumane" acts. There are lots, and you can just simply click on the Internet.

Use culture is different. You guys see cats and dogs as pets but some Chinese don't.

Here's an advice: Before you criticize others, country in this case, look at your own first! Have you ever been to China to say ALL Chinese people eat cats and dogs? It's ignorant people like you who start discrepency amoung others. As a Chinese myself, I can assure you that many many Chinese are against eating pets, to them, cats and dogs are like their family. Please don't judge a whole group of people just because one individual does it. BTW, do you know people in the South of US eat horses, torture lifestocks/animals? Why don't you bring this up first? America, in fact, many other countries has severe problems as well, not just China.

Only some people like to eat dog. And mainly only ONE bred is eaten, so it's NOT pet. To Hindus and Buddist, eating cow(beef) is such a barbaric thing to do. Different culture have different set of idea for food. What the western don't eat does NOT make it a sin for others to eat. Some Japanese like to eat whale and dolphins too. Koreans eat dogs too.
And in recent years a lot of Chinese do own dogs as pets. and NO, we don't eat our pet.

Why don't people boycott Japanese goods after so many whales were killed? Why don't people boycott Australian goods after so many kangaroos were killed for food? Every country tortures its own people. You just don't see it, you just don't read about it. Media has a way, intentionally, to blow things out of proportion for anything to do with China. It is a strong bias against China for its future rise. Funny thing is, no country out there can contain China like it did to Soviet Union.

well, not all Chinese people eat dog. people in the "Canton" region eat dog and rabbit. And i do believe some people in the colder parts of China eat it to keep warm (something about dog meat gives more "heat"). this is also why Dog meat is very popular in Korean diets because it's colder over there. People in China (other than the Guangdon area don't eat dog at all).

But then again it's all about cultural difference isn't it? I mean, do you eat pork? Some people in the world go against that - do you think that's strange? Or people come to Australia to eat Kangaroo meat. Or the French eating snails and frogs....? No big deal.

Our difference is what makes the world a more interesting place. And in the end, we are more similar than we are different anyways. no matter where you are from.

China is a country that follows and enforces the rule of law!!! 99.9999% of the people do not eat dogs; about the same as anywhere else!

it's not the Chinese people fault. everyone has to make a living and this is the only way to do it. i mean that it's the government fault. the chinese are not the only people that eat dogs. there are people in different countries that eat dogs and some for rituals like africa .

I guess they eat dogs because the people in China work for low wages, so they can't feed their families, so they had to do it. It's not like they wanted to, but they have no choice.

As for torture, I have no idea.
