not necessarily.
it depends on individual i believe.
not race.
i'm not denying that most of my chinese friends
are very competitive and determined and hardworking.
but malays and indians are nothing less than that too. |

Being a Malaysian Chinese myself, I just don't think so.
Many racist Chinese like to think that way, like to think they are more prominent. Most of these kind of people are shallow minded & they either will also object Western thinking (thinking only Chinese are good & the best
or they adapt so much of Western that they objects & criticize other Asian values even their own thus forgetting their own identity.
There are many great people from various race in Malaysia. If you're free & open minded you should start reading biz. news magazines, watching shows like "Pensonic Pride - Outstanding Malaysians on ntv7". |

Stands out in what way exactly?
Academically, unless you've been living under a rock, surely you know that Amalina is the best student ever- and she's a Malay.
Economically, the Chinese do NOT stand out more than the Malays. Most of the rich and successful entrepnuers and bussinessman are Malays. But I won't say the Chinese are not strong, Lim Goh Tong for example. But, if you ever read the list of Most Successul People of the Year [it's usually in the newspapers at the end of every year] you'll know easily enough that the Malays stand out MORE. |

I agree race is not the THE factor, everybody is blessed with chances to shine out, one way or another. What remains for us to ponder is why some do, and some don't. I ever heard of this quote - If you believe you can, or can't, you are right.
"the British never gave chance for malay to develope themselves..the malay STAND by themselves."
this has to be the funniest thing i ever heard in ages. anyone who genuinely thinks so is clearly ignorant.
----
szionis - if it was true that chinese were brought by the british and given job, well what sort of work did they do, may i ask? weren't they placed in mine and plantation and what not - all of which were hard labour work? did the british stop malays from getting involved in any kind of work in your own land? okay that aside, we all know NEP has been in place for years. we all should know the objectives of it, but do we know the mechanism, how it actually works? put simply the so called bumiputeras aka malay (mostly) given privileges and what not. and i'm surprised you dont think this is "help" given to our malay brothers. if that was the case, the least you could agree is that chinese were able to crawl out from the mining/rubber tapping days and shine? |
