Santa shows up only during christmas season because it's the only time he gives out gifts to well-behaved children, as a reward for being good...and the only time he can wear those heavy boots and thick, red, double-breasted suit (plus the hat).
Where has he been the rest of the year? Oh well, he has been snoozing and feasting over the left-over foods from the holidays, the reason he got so huge bordering between fatness and obesity. |

Just like you, JB, he loves his beer...so during the 10 months (Jan - Oct) that he is not on duty, he drinks with his reindeers and elves in the hinterlands of the North Pole...yeah, hiding from Mrs. Claus. In Nov., he stays sober and starts making toys with the assistance of the elves while his reindeers go on detox. By Dec., everyone is good to go!!!

As water is a rare commodity in the North Pole, Mrs Claus can only launder Santa's red suit once a year so it's only Christmastime that he can make his appearance...it coincides too with his once-a-year bath. The rest of the year, he's just frolicking with the reindeers...stink and all! hahaha |

jongbong, we see santa all year long but not necessarily in his red suit and white beard. during easter, he masquerades as the easter bunny...during the celebration of st. patrick's day, he's the leprechaun...etc., etc....and right here at yap, he's the little green grouch in the garbage can! hahahaha |
