Because we are too honest and the country is too small that enables the media to reveal everything. Every little thing, whether newsworthy or not, comes out as a big deal and with this, the shame ends up to us. Other countries' people don't get much bad publicity because they want to protect their countries' reputation by hiding the things happening in their own countries. |

i think most filipinas and filipinos are very nice, the problem is, that when some bad people do things,, that gets reported more then all the good things,, we should not generalize a few bad "apples" and blame all are that way,, there are many problems in the world today caused by generalizing(stereotyping), be more tolerant. |

Because the country is run by a bunch of dirty politicians and stupid showbiz personalities.
And yet the country manages to survive in spite of them. Because the people are beautiful and inherently good-natured. The ordinary Filipino works very hard. It is rich in natural resources. And yet the country remains poor.
The blame begins with Ferdinand Marcos who started the culture of corruption in politics that is now so deeply ingrained in the system and is now so difficult to eradicate. |

Because the media only tends to show news from the Philippines when it is bad.
Examples:
-An English man was murdered, supposedly, by his wife, this was shown in a documentary in the UK;
-The terrorist groups down south;
-Protests against the president
Why would the news show good news about the Philippines? What people want is news that is exciting. Think about it. |

Agree with Arize Z.....
In spite of all the negativity surrounding the Philippines, the filipino people are good, whole-hearted people who deserve more from the government and more understanding from other countries. |

We can dance, that's fer sure! The troubles we have here are pretty much the same as our neighbors'. The country just doesn't have a good PR Manager who knows how to cover our asses. Seriously, behind all these dodgy reports you hear, there are hospitable people and the beautiful islands to enjoy. |

The unpatriotic Filipinos themselves living in other countries tend to give wrong and exagerated publicities to potential tourists who want to visit the Philippines. Another reason is the irresponsible media reporting. |

I think because the media is so open and all.. The freedom here in PH is so much so they all say and do what they want to say.. and all thats happening is sensationalize by media and all besides the govt is somehow not doing something about it maybe.
Thank goodness there are such fellow that still see Ph as a nice country.. see you again.. |

There are a few UK papers and media outlets that distort the truth, out of all recognition, and it is the duty of us all who know and love the Philippines to put the record straight. To be quite honest if I see one more news report showing Tondo as the Philippines in general, I shall not be responsible for my actions. My friends Mother-in-Law lives in a house nearby, and it is very different to how it is depicted.
Hopefully with The Honourable Ace Durano in charge of tourism, there will be a lot more positives shown to the world.
I live here in Philippines in preference to UK the climate is better, the people are happy and friendly. I can walk out and not be frightened of being a crime victim, I have a happy extended family. Philippines is a wonderful and beautiful country, full of beautiful and hospitable people, always ready to help.
No there are so many positives about the Philippines, to all those reading this, I would say visit here, and see for yourselves. |

Simply because of exaggeration from media. They magnify their reports to sell but if you look at it closely it's not that bad. Media focuses more on negative issues and neglects the positive. |

The Philippines as a whole, maybe but if you isolater some provinces like Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete, Cagayan de Oro etc... they're not so bad with their publicities. In fact if you look at their daily headlines in the newspaper its almost all about whats the development in the city. In fact Cebu is hosting the ASEAN Summit. I guess those who promote bad publicity are those that wants to destroy the Philippines economy. Lets just put aside our individual interest and focus on the growth as a nation because when we grow each and every one of us Grows! |
