OMG there is such a large population in Hawaii. Man they can talk!!! But not unlike other cultures. But this group does seem to be into everybody's stuff. Atleast that is what I learned in Kalihi. The state capital for the race on Oahu. Add gambling in garages, cock fighting and some gang violence. Having spent alot of time in Manila I know that there are two distinct lines of folks. Major rich/ major poor and alot of corruption. But talent and honor still exists too. So I get your point. Thanks. (fmr Continental Flight Attendant and resident HNL for over 30 yrs)

It's a favorite pastime of the Filipinos; helps keep the blues away, keeps your mind off your worries and of course, a way for friends or neighbors to bond with each other. I find nothing wrong with that as long as you don't gossip about me and my life...hehehe.

first of all i don't get it why almost everyone reacted in a bad way... the question was why filipinos like to gossip not why ALL filipinos like to gossip so it does not mean every single one of us likes to do so. (this answers one of the comments by someone not to generalize) another thing is i don't see this as a racist statement. what's racist about this? what's discriminating about this? there is some truth in it. most importantly the question did not say that filipinos are the only race that likes to gossip. it was never written that way. so why are you all saying that this is discriminating?

filipinos and any other race like to gossip because most of them have nothing better to do with their time so they watch tv shows regarding about celebrities lives or any other person that they know. i guess nobody will really know the reason behind it
