Let's be realistic and face the fact that most Filipinos are poor. Because of this, Filipinas tend to find foreiners who are willing to marry them and scoop them out from their poverty. Sad to say, those who are willing are mostly old men. In so doing, it's become a two-way street actually, the old foreigner finding a young wife and a Filipina finding a groom who had her taken out of her misery. |

Nah! I've run up on too many younger guys here, especially Aussie.
You think every foreigner has a silver spoon but it isn't true. Most younger men are very busy trying to make a living.
It takes either a rich man or someone with a retirement income to come here to start with.
Not all of us old farts married babies either. My girl is 10 younger and looks like she's 30.
I raised two daughters. I didn't need anymore pimples and little girl attitudes about life.
Some want that and the girls are there for whatever their reason.
In the end we are all just looking for a little happiness in a sad world. |

I would have to disagree. I have friends that are in their 20s-30s dating/married to foreigners within that same age bracket.
Although, partly there is some truth to that. Most of the foreigners who choose to retire in the Philippines, would eventually find someone to be with while they are in the country.
Love is love...there are no boundaries to it even if there is a big age gap between them. |

maybe they are looking for a filipina wife who will take care of them after their retirement... coz, nothing takes good care as filipina do...
but some filipinas marry old foreigner as an access to USA..(sad but true)

Let's not be too harsh on those women who marry older men. The practice seems only more obvious in the Philippines because of what I see as visual difference, but actually is quite common nowadays. And the reasons are as varied as there are marriages. Take one of the U.S. Presidential candidates as an example. His wife is 18 years younger and nobody gives a hoot about it.
In summary, the reasons vary with each marriage. So let this issue remain what it is - a non-issue. |

I agree with one answerer that because we see a lot of older foreign guys married to younger Filipinas we think that that is really the case.
But some cases are:
Most foreigners look old for their age & most Filipinas & Filipinos included look young for their age so sometimes our eyes deceive us or our mind is conditioned to this fact so we assume that.
There are many Filipinas here in our place who are married to foreigners or going out with foreigners & they are in the same age group. Some of the Filipinas are even older than the guys. But because we are not aware of these or that we tend not to notice then we assume that this is not happening.
But lastly there are of course a lot of older foreign guys married to younger Filipinas, especially in this age of the Global FIlipino, marriage for convenience, online chatting, web match making & mail order brides but I believe that there are still many Filipinas out there who are married to foreigners whose ages are about the same as their husbands. |

Quiet a screwed up culmination of alot of things really. Young filipina girls are faced with hardships and look at older foreigners or any foreigners as a good opportunity. Alot of old guys are already established and know what they want and there is by no means a shortage of available women. It's probably not the best idea but as it stands its a beneficial relationship in most cases as it turns out for both parties. Alot of people will not agree with this but in the end it's up to the couple really. |

So a 50 year old foreigner married to a 40 year old Filipina is wrong? Don't tell me that all Filipino marriages are within one or two years of each other. My Filipino in-laws have 15 to 20 years difference between them.
Out of curiousity what was your age gap?
Most Filipina's hold their ages very well and many look ten years younger than they actually are. I have many friends married to Filipinas where the age gap is no more than 5 years. |

because most foreign men think about marriage when they get really old. i'm living here in california and it's normal here to see older men - even in their sixties married to younger women and they have kids who are not yet even in their teen years. in think they got too caught up in work, too busy to think about settling down yet. it's a hard life here in the US, so i guess most men want to be financial secure first before they think about marriage. majority of the people here owe money because of college loans, car loans, etc... and they get overwhelmed by all the bills.
our apartment rent for example is $1600. imagine that? and the minimum salary rate here is $8/hr minus the 35-40% tax. as i said, it's a hard life, so a person really has to be very careful about planning ahead. |

I notice that too. Sometimes I wonder if the sugar daddies know that they are being used. I think it's a shame that not all women married for love. But it's not just the filipinas who are doing this, most women just want to live a charmed life. |

Because many of these men are more experienced, wiser and more tolerant of cultural differences and the great impediments that society throws in the way of a mixed-race relationship.
Most of the Filipinas seeking foreigners are also "really old" by the countries' standards -- in their 30s and 40s and even 50s. They've had failed marriages (to Filipinos) and had kids. They're looking for a second chance at happiness. |

The main reason I think is that once you're old, you're useless both in society and in bed. They fear that they end up staying in an institution for old-aged peole. Foreigners think that being married to a Filipina is a bargain and why is that? Because they've got a young wife and a nanny at the same time that could take care of the dishes, wash the laundry and other stuff that regular maids do and of course, don't forget their duties in the bedroom. On the other hand, some Filipinas, despite of a huge age difference, would still like to get married to a foreigner in exchange for monetary rewards like shopping sprees and frequent salon visits which they didn't experience before because they didn't even have enough money to get them in school and feed themselves at the same time. They think that it's the only easy way out of poverty which I think is really true. But mind you that not all inter-racial marriages that involve young Filipinas and old foreigners end with a happy ending. |

I am not agree in this 100%, I met lots of Filipinas married to foreigners some are on the same age bracket or 12 years older nor 10 years younger ( yes, some filipinas married to a younger men but it doesn't shown as filipinas always look younger to their age) they have healthy marriage as the level of their maturity are not in big gap that can cope on each other shits & craps at the same time they are both learning on the way, they married for love not for advanced advantage.
I am not also agree that old men always rich, some of them are losers, don't have anything but love(?) this filthy rich old man trick stereo type were gone. The reality is - someone don't need to be in 50's or be old to be rich, The middle aged are the one who have the knowledge, capacity & opportunity as well as money, the generation changed compare 30 years ago.
In my opinion , Why some of the Filipinos always suggested -don't let her to use you, don't buy this & that. I don't think this old bloke don't know what he is doing and such a naive, and the Filipina women should be blame for this as a user. Probably he is a phedophile looking for a young girl to satisfy his psychological disorder. I believed they are both using each other - hey, there's no such free things. If this old bloke is in his right mind he will look for real relationship that will work such as have a reasonable age partner, compatible personality & mentality, etc.. ,not for a sex toy which he can only have a sexual fantasy in his mind but no urge to get it up physically - Can't blame her if she runs away to another man, then he will whinge that this Filipina woman is a slut she only wants my money & citizenship. If he looked for appropriate for him , not being ambitious & engaged in unrealistic relationship. HE can marry the undesirable, 50 years old woman with grown up children but caring, understanding and loving. She will be forever priceless no matter what. The disadvantage of the filipinas they can only choose but they can't pick, but she has a choice to give her soul in return of her dreams. |

I married my husband because since he is old he most likely has more money than a younger guy that is just starting off his career. I married my husband for money because that is ALL he is good for. He is not funny, does not smell good, is not attractive, is too overweight, and he is an arrogant rude person. I can't stand to be with him and I WILL leave him eventually when I am sure I can make it without his financial support. I feel as though I have wasted so many years of my own life away by being married to him but I had to do what I had to do. The most important thing is that I was able to help my family with his money. It's not like any other type of woman in this world would have given him the time of day like I have anyway so I don't feel bad for him. I just hope that he appreciates ALL of the sacrifices that I have made on my part by being the unwilling trophy by his side. |

Because woman in the phillipines know that older men have enough money to fly around the world to marry them. Most younger men are still hooking up with young woman in there town. All i know is i'm young and if i had the money i would go get me a filipina woman. I am thinking of doing it some day.
Hey some woman just want a man to take care of them. Its kinda sad but true. |
