All I can say is that you have been thoroughly misinformed.
Why?
>The Philippines has been hailed as a Major Non-NATO Ally in Southeast Asia.
>The Philippines has the largest number of American citizens outside the United States.
>Many Filipinos are partly of American descent.
>The Philippines was a protectorate of the United States from 1898-1945.
>All Filipinos are familiar with American traditions and culture, and have taken it as their own.
>The Philippines has offered support for the Iraqi invasion of U.S.
>Americans continue to play a part in Philippine economy.
>U.S. Presidents and Senators have been regularly visiting the Philippines since time immemorial.
>The Philippines had the largest American naval base in the world outside of the U.S. (prior to evacuation on 1992).
>The Philippines has been taunted as a 'The America of Asia' due to its adoption of American cuolture, traditions, language, religion, and way of life.
>Virtually all Filipinos speka American English quite fluently.
>Hundreds of thousand of Filipinos travel to the United States anually either for travle, leisure, or business purposes, and as such, they are now the largest Asian American community in U.S. (though they are sometimes classified as Hispanic ).
TO conclude, The Philippines is actually an Amerasian nation in Southeast Asia. |

You're misinformed. Philippines is a small country in terms of land area. Our country was colonized by Americans that's why American English as a subject is part of the curriculum in all levels (elementary, secondary, tertiary). President Bush has been visiting the country, as well as our president visiting the US. So i disagree that Philippines as a country isn't recognized by the US. |

So far as I know, the U.S. and most other countries that I'm aware of recognize the Phillippines as a country. |

Its very recognized. Once when Clark AFB was there, it was the largest airbase in Asia. The Philippines has the most strategic area for our jets even today, too bad the government wanted us out. I think it was 1991 that we packed up all our toys and left the island, but many American expats still live there. We even have a VA center there to take care of them. |

You've been misinformed. They are very big to us. We have military bases still there although not as many. We trade with them. We are allies. There are many Filipinos in this country who are legal citizens. We've been in touch with them for over 100 years. |

What do you mean it isnt recognised by the US? The Philipines is a country... its on the globe, its recognised. |

What do you mean? The US was the FIRST country to recognize The Phillippines when it gave them their independence after WW2. |

I think you should read more, i.e. newspapers and world events newsmagazines. I have been in the US for a little over three years and I've seen news items about the Philippines in our local newspapers and even in the Washington Post. |

They are reconized as a country by the US. They got their independence from the US on July 4th 1946. |

Its recognized by who? The Philippines has a very strong tie to America.
As many americans back in the days would say "our little brown brothers or brown americans!" |

Look on the map of the world. It's in the Pacific. I have no idea why you and your friends don't recognize it. I recognize it easily. Been there a time or two. Great place to visit. |

If it wasn't recognized by the US, than why is there a US Embassy on Roxas Blvd. in Manila?
As far as being very very big, it is about the same size as Arizona.
As others have said, the US and Philippines have had a long relationship and are good friends and will continue to be for many, many more generations. |

When theres a land that is runned by a government the US likes, its recognized. And the Philippines is a land that is runned by a government the US likes. So its recognized.

that's simple. the US doesn't recognize the Philippines even though it's a big country because Filipinoes are very short people. |

i was unaware the Philippines were not recognized by the US, where did you get this idea?. The Philippines are a member of the UN and have strong ties to the United States. They have used their military in peace keeping efforts in conjunction with the UN and in one case a Filipino General lead a mission. what are you really asking here? |
