Are you talking about American TV? There is a difference between being popular and being popular on US TV. The US TV covers mainly US and a few other major countries. Maybe some 6-10. It also covers where Americans are waging wars.
Not only the Philippines is not popular; the rest of some 200 world countries is not popular on US TV either. Even French Canada is not shown. Let alone Philippines, or such great places like Slovenia or Senegal. Americans are just not interested- most like to go to Hawaii, Mexico, and that's all.

Now, let me ask you this: why isn't Bangladesh popular on Philippine TV? Why is not Estonia popular on Philippine TV? But everything is America3 and maybe the UK, Australia and then maybe where all the OFWs are? The rest Pinoys really do not care about. How many Pinoys would spend time watching a reportage about Cameroon or S. Africa? Or Uruguay?

Same with Americans.

The Philippines is popular on Korean and Japanese TV though. Hence, torrents of people from those countries to RP.

PS:Oh, by the way, Datu Marinero, I tried to email you but could not. Which Philippine islands are kicking out Western people? And the world's richest people are Asian? Some are but not the majority.

Yup, Indians are in the top ten but Americans and a Mexican are top three. Have you been to India, though? Very very poor. Hope it gets better.

The Philippines could become more popular as a tourist destination if a few things change.

Filipina women are amazingly beautiful and sweet, there are many beaches and beautiful places in the Philippines, and it is cheap for tourists to visit too. I think the Philippines should be more popular.

But the Philippine government has to do something about crime and murder, and poverty. Right now nobody wants to visit a place that is not safe no matter how beautiful it is....and there are so many very poor people there. The government should focus on that. First, get rid of handguns and crime, and then deal with poverty.

If that happens, the Philippines will be more popular than Thailand as a tourist spot.

Well, its not because of the amount of crime or how corrupt our country is. its just that there's not that much interesting things happening here.

If you're talking about TV, its because Philippine showbusiness used to be one of the best in the world back in the days but then it became worse. our showbiz lacks good talent and creativity nowadays. filipinos are extremely talented especially in the field of performing arts, we still have a shot at becoming big.

There aren't really a lot of people in the United States that would be interested in watching something about a country that's 7,000 miles away from our own. If it won't get ratings, it won't get on TV.

television is all about ratings. higher ratings mean more advertisers. only programs with mass appeal will generate high ratings. theres only small % of filipinos in the states.

everything has its own without western, although some Philippine island kicking out the western people 'coz they don't like the appeararnce of culture ofwestern people. Do you know my friend about ASIA, presently some of the richest people comes from Asia. Just imagine Dubai, Bahrain, Hong kong, Taipi,Manila, Bangkok, Kualalumpor,, Bieging, Bombay, Singapore, Tokyo.
Few years later again mark my word, the strongest people and economy are in Asia.
