because it should have been tenty-one and it's a bit confusing with twenty-one. so they decided on eleven =))

have you ever wondered why it is

"labindalawa" (12)
and so on...

instead of
"sampu't-isa
sampu't dalawa

to go along with dalawampu't-isa..and so on?

its illogical, simply because it sounds odd to say, people decided that they should come up with a different system for naming 10-19 than they did naming 20-99. the same thing is in spanish too (once, doce, trece, catorce, quince, dieciseis, diecisiete, dieciocho, diecinueve)

maybe because 12 would protest. then 13 would join in, and so goes the other numbers. and that will complicate our lives. let's just leave 11 to be himself. =)
