I have been married to a Filipino man for 27 years. I am white, blue eyes, blonde hair etc. I spent eight years there at the now closed Clark Air Base. I will tell you why they want to become nurses, there are no jobs there unless you are rich. There are no middle class, you are either rich or dirt poor. Once they graduate from nursing they can come to the states and find a good paying job. They are very good hard working people and they will send money back there to help their families out. I know this for a fact, it's a shame it's such a poor country but all the places I visited the people will go out of their way to accommodate you. My husband is from Cebu, met him when he first joined the Air Force, recently retired and know working with Lockheed Martin.

If you ever have the time and money please travel there.

because of the high demand for nurses abroad. Life in the Philippines is so hard that people wants to work abroad.

Because nursing is in demand. You can easily get a job in that field when you need it. My mom is a nurse and her parents wanted her to be a nurse because they (and her) want her to go to the US for a better life. So yep she's here and still a nurse after about 20 or more years. She loves her job. And also in nursing you get a good amount of money.

They R kind people by nature, with good bedside manners, and always make the best nurses. They also have good nursing schools in their country, and I think it is a profession now that is passed from mother to daughter.
