Why r most filipinos smart???

We are smart because we've been to lot of trials and problems as a nation. We are encountering natural calamities and political problems almost every year. Each of these problems molded us to become a better and smart person in order to survive. Actually we are not only smarts but we are also survivors.

This question is stupid. And truth be told, most Filipinos are not smart. A lot of Filipinos do not have access to basic education.

However, you might have encountered more smart Filipinos abroad (US, UK, etc.) because these are the highly educated people who left their poor little country to make a living.

Because they probably haven't been sucked into American culture and still have morals and values. They probably want better for themselves and we all know you gotta stay in school for that, where as MOST American kids are spoiled and don't know how lucky they are to have an education.

It's in the genes. We filipinos are just born to be smart. Lol Well, we just work harder.

I believe there are no smart and stupid people, there are just lazy and hard-working people. It just so happens we filipinos are hard-working.

Hmmm. I've met about 100 filipinos and filipinas (cousins, friends, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, etc. of my GF)

Some are smart, some are not. It's about the same mix as the USA.

i guess it's just one of our traits to work hard and study...we're a country that's faced with reality every day...it's either you're on the upper side or the lower one...when you're on the upper side, you do your best to be smart because it's like, if not, you know; you can see what you may end up to be...but if you're on the lower side, you tend to think up endless ideas/tactics as to how you can make your life better...it's like, in this country, you have to be smart...

Well, truly this question is hard to answer because there is no data to say which way the wind blows. So, we take it that there are smart and not so smart Filipinos around. :)
