Main reasons from top to down.
1. MONEY:
Cost of to travel. Nearer compare to US & Canada.
Faster. Luggage & flight etc. cheaper.
- Currency rate to convert for ..everything, course, study materials etc.
- Food & stuffs there more affordable.
- More Asians food available & cheaper in Aus. thn. in US & Canada. (except if it's Quebec, Canada).
2. International Qualifications. <-- 'nuff said.
3. Easier to enter & apply for Student's Visa & get a part time job there. Especially after 9-11 incident.
4. Climate. Although Aus. hv. 4 seasons, but it's mostly mild & similar to M'sia more. Canada is freaking cold even during Spring. During Autumn, if it rains you can even see ice on your windows & roads forming. US's very big, it depends on which state which can be warmer and some colder.
If I've a choice I would either pick Aus's Melbourne or Canada's Quebec to further my studies in Masters :D. |

because Australia is closer. Do you really want to be that far from home? also, the education system in the US absolutely sucks. |

some of the already given answers are well thought through... but i would say the main reasons really is just the currency rate, with safety as the second reason.
distance and weather were never of concern to those that i know of, at least. |

Bee cause USA is too expensive and violent, Canada is too cold and you must drink too much beer and play hockey before u graduate.
Oz is cheaper, closer climate to Malaysia and girls have nice tan and wear bikinis everywhere. |

Because Aussie is much more closer to Malaysia than US and Canada. Malaysian are home sick people :). The most important, Aussie is not too far from Indonesia, so Malaysian can fly to Indonesia to eat Indonesian foods that the taste is as much same as Malaysian foods if they study in Aussie. Anyway, i think they love BALI. He...he.... |

because its easier to get a place there. besides theres more reps from aussie unis in malaysia than canada or US. for example: AusAid and IDP.
and yes, money is a factor too. and maybe, its nearer to home so it'll be easier for relatives to visit them while they're in aus. |

During my time of study the exchange rate for Malaysia RM to US dolor is 2.5 to 1. Right now is 3.45 to 1. So the preference place would be Australia and New Zeland. |

Australia is cheaper and closer.
US and Canada is farther away and the system is different and finishing a course may take longer than expected as you're allowed to continue as long as you want if you flunk a paper.
UK is the best. It may be farther from Australia, it still is the hub for best universities in the world. The uni I went to only allow you to re-sit a paper twice in the same year. If you flunk for the 3rd time, then you have to re-sit the whole year. This allows you to be more discipline. |
