That is the fault of Tun Mahathir, when he was in power in the 80’s he memperbahasakan almost everything, at that time there are still lots of English speaking teachers around, later he discovered that his vision was wrong and want to change, it is too late all the English speaking teachers have retired, their students at that time is the teacher now, without proper English education how they can teach in English?
Yes, we have to improve the standard of the English of Msian, I have a few fresh graduates from local university in my office, none of them can speak proper English, written is still OK as they use spelling and grammar check, the Chinese speak Chinese and the Malay speak Malay, they don’t even dare to call our European suppliers, who can I put them to deal with our European customers?
The teachers were selected base on quota, try open the teachers training college base on merit, those who want to apply to be teachers must at least have an A I am sure the problem will be solved. |

Bummer...you were lucky you had good teachers.
So did I....way back when there were still many great teachers.
I have 3 schoolgoing kids and I have had the 'privilege' of meeting their teachers. Frankly, not just their English is appalling, but their mentality level too. I wouldn't want a teacher who's constantly humiliating, belittling her pupils, calling them pathetic, losers, good-for-nothings and these are A class pupils, too.
Btw...respect is earned, Bummer. |

I agree that respect is earned, it is not given or donated. I guess the questioner means those teachers who are required to use English to teach mathematics and science. If this is the case then I understand why they are going mad. They really need to improve their English in order to be a good teacher for both of the subjects. |

but who's gonna teach the teacher teachers |

yes i agree wit u..they are just sometimes streesed that the students can do better then them..or the students start advising them on the language..just like my kids..
i am good in my english ..so it follows to my kids..so when they feel the sentences or spelling given by my children are wrong they advise the teachers..
u wont beleive me if i say one of the teachers curse my daughter and went out the class crying..just becoz my daughter said the knife was under the table for past tense..and teacher said no..the knife is under the table..and my daughter argued until she won the case when another teacher confirmed the mistake.. |

I just hope our government do not change the Maths and Science teaching to BM just because of a few go mad.
I would rather they go mad now than the whole system go mad if they were to change the 2 subjects to BM.
Do continue with English, and after 10 years from now i believe out standard of English will be "damn mad good". |

That's what happened when English is neglected for so long in our education system and now suddenly they realised its importance. Have to start from scratch all over again. |

normal... they are government employees on top of it, a naturally lazy bunch (I hope here nobody is government employee, but I am sure those government employees who have found YA are very rajin!!!) and they don't want to do anything more than what they are used to... hey, it is not only here, don't worry. |

Read WHAT YOU WRONT!! & think why they are going mad.. LOSER! |
|

Bummer again

wow..i'm surprised that some of you have no respect to your teacher at all until you dare to call them cikgu bodoh..
how clever are you anyway?
even if you are smart but with this kind of attitude you are pathethic..i wonder who the hell was giving you a lesson about ABCDEF, etc..
edit:
i never said that respect is not earned..i also believe that respect is earned..but really, any good teachers that i see nowadays are trying really hard to master their english..imagine this, my teacher has been teaching for almost 10 years in malay and suddenly she had to teach in english? they do go to courses and stuff like that to learn english..any good teachers will try at their best to gain their student's respect..it just breaks my heart that some people forgot about the teacher's sacrifices and call them stupid..i'm not saying all teachers are good and kind but really, we can't blame all the teachers for that..i've found really good teachers that has taught me more than just about academic..
btw, people that failed in spm cannot be a teacher..lol |
