Why the police car in US uses a V8 engine, but over here we only use Proton Waja?

Believe me or not, in the UK, the police force, they use proton cars.. bsides, what much difference does it make?? its not worth the money.. Kereta rosak, lagi bazir!!

They have wider roads, longer highway and bigger land. In Malaysia, police can chase cars faster with V8 engine, but too much for us. The cars are too expensive, the highway not that long and we don't have so many offenders in super fast cars (Lambo, Ferrari...). But now besides using national cars, we also have Nissan X-Trial, Pajero etc..

So far Malaysia Police are good in chasing any villains vehicles...if you dare go on try it ...ha ha

In the U.S. we have large stretches of highway. Sometimes if a criminal tries to drive away, the larger engine can move a heavy police car faster than the criminal's car. Also, police will sometimes use their car to push a stalled car out of a dangerously high traffic area. The larger engine gives the power to do this. Also, U.S. police cars are larger than most as our laws require a certain amount of room for those arrested, so that it doesn't violate their civil rights. The Lamborghini cars cost as much as 4 police cars here.

proton would go down if the gov does not support it. check at the figures for proton and you'll see. even with gov support in buying the cars and protectionist laws and policies proton still manage to make it to the red two years back....
actually, it is fine that proton car are used for 'normal' daily used car but for patrol cars we need better cars. even the bad guys are mostly using stolen bmw and merz. or 'lesser' cars like accord or camry which would still easily outrun any waja or wira patrol cars.

Unless we have our own V8 cars then you can say that.

And btw, our criminals only use 'kapcai's' and Kancils, to name some, Waja's and Perdana's are more than enough.

Need to be mentioned that police just don't get into a chase and start firing their guns, revving their engine and running over civilians JUST to stop criminals. That's why they take some time. It's not because they're stupid.

Try thanking our policemen for a change, guys, because things would be far off worse without them. They die doing their job to protect you.

Well first you have to know the standard procedure of cop in both country.
In Malaysia we can get the supply and service of proton easier and cheaper too.

If it concern national security, brand name is not as important to accessability. The government control the proton company so there will be standard production and maintainence.

Proton Waja is not as tough as a V8 but what's the point of having good engine when most of the crooks here also uses proton and occationally...OK...some criminals will used imported cars(stollen ones) but so what just to get caught in the traffic jams.

Additional details, all waja for Malaysian Police force are modified so there can be more space to store ammo and tactical assault weapon.

Kancil are used for tourism police so what's the point of having a V8 or a waja when most they bring is their standard service handgun... most of the time paper and pen and pamplets "love Malaysia" or "Make Malaysia your second home"

ala...Malaysia is only a small country...look at the condition of the road..the roads are small, lubang-lubang,many bumpers, and winding, highway pun not so many..pi mai pi mai tang tu juga.. here are my reasons..

1. if you are a criminal, can you drive 200km/j in KL?? even 90km/j pun susah because of the road condition and not to mention the traffic jam..only small car like kancil and kelisa can cilok-cilok in that condition..so that's why kancils come in handy..

2. the only a fairlady can drive 200km is in highway...ok...how many highways do we have here? you put a road block and spike trap at one corner of the highway..plus a helicopter follow from above..sudah kena tangkap..if you can run away pun, akan masuk normal road where you can't drive 100kmj..and more road blocks.. and if the criminal tried to dodge the road blocks, its a suicide attempt

3. how many Malaysian can afford to have a powerful car?? not so many right?? if they can run from a police chase, its not so hard to find them, right?

i don't think a powerful car comes in handy but for disguise oklah. the problem here is the criminal using motorcycle..they are the real problem..we should think of that since they are small and fast..how many peragut can the police caught?? how many mat rempits can the police caught?? hard right?? plus, the motorcycles can dodge a road block

The living standard between US and Malaysia is a lot difference. Sine US resident got a lot of people using V8 or sport cars. Then V8 police cars are required. If our country import V8 car also waste of money.

I doubt their driving skills ... if you can still remember this case ... a police patrol car chased criminal in North South Highway from Johor and they only manage to catch em at Seremban's highway ... and amazingly the criminal was driving a lorry ... lori ayam kecik tu ... wtf ... even Kancil 1.0 can speed faster than such lorry lah ... i think the gov should give the police lorry ... buduh bebenor kate orang kampung teman .. ish!!

In the US, everything is big. In Malaysia, kampong style only. It has always been. Even if you give the police in Malaysia a V10, they cannot tell the difference, or they cannot know how to make use of it. And the US police in US will not be able to get into a Waja. The standards are different. With the Waja, Malaysian police can still catch robbers. They still crash their cars. The US police with their V8 sometimes cannot catch the bad guys, they also crash their cars, they also beat up people. So whether using a V8 or Waja, police everywhere are all same same.
