Malaysia is a beautiful country, rich with culture and diversity. Not only that, but compared to the US, it is realtively inexpensive. We spent two days there and this is what we did:
Here is our itinerary and the hotel we stayed at. It was only about 45 USD/ night, and by US Standards, it was a 4 star hotel.

Also, instead of doing the walks, we ended up hiring a driver. It cost us about 100 USD, but there was 7 of us, and we used the itinerary below. It was well worth it. I can find the drivers info if you are interested, or you can ask the concierge at the hotel to arrange a driver.

The brainchild of Alfred Venning, the British State Treasurer in the 1880s, this botanical garden, set amid lakes in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, is the city dweller's favourite rendezvous. Nestled deep in the city centre are a sprawling 104 hectares of close-cropped lawns, undulating hills and carefully cultivated gardens. Situated near Jalan Parlimen, Lake Gardens offers locals and visitors a wide range of facilities such as playgrounds, jogging tracks, exercise stations and rowing boats while other attractions within the park include a bird park, a butterfly park, a deer park and flower gardens. Masjid Negara

The contemporary National Mosque has a 240-ft minaret, a purple roof, and geometric-pattern grillwork. Though not Asia's largest mosque, it can accommodate 10,000 worshipers. Signs remind you to dress modestly, to remove your shoes when entering, and to be aware that certain areas are off-limits, especially during prayer times. The mosque complex also includes a library and a mausoleum. OPEN: Sat.-Thurs. 9-6, Fri. 3-6.
National Museum

The National Museum is a palatial structure adopting the style of old Malay architecture. Its imposing entrance is flanked by murals depicting aspects of Malaysian culture and history. Inside there are exhibits on local history, culture and traditions, arts and crafts, economic activities, currency, weapons and local flora and fauna.
Outside, old locomotives, vintage cars and other relics of transport from days gone by can be found. Reconstructed Malay palaces from other parts of the country also grace the expansive grounds.

Also known as Chinatown, Petaling Street is one of Kuala Lumpur's most popular tourist destinations. In the evenings, a line of stalls come to live in front of the pre-war shops, offering products of every description, from fake leather goods to the obligatory "Dunhill" watches. The area attracts many locals and visitors in search of bargain items, including inexpensive dresses, shoes, fabrics and souvenirs. It transforms itself into a bustling and lively night market when part of the road is closed to traffic at about 6pm.

National Art Gallery (The)
Since its establishment in 1958, the gallery shifted three times before it finally settled into its own purpose-built premises. Located in the beautiful neighbourhood of Lake Titiwangsa, it exhibits work by Malaysian artists.
The building's unique structure, combining a blend of slate, tinted glass and a striking metallic roof, houses five galleries including a creative gallery and workshop, a resource centre, an auditorium and the gallery's administrative centre. Its collection now numbers over 2,500 pieces.
The gallery holds a variety of exhibitions and educational programs. It also organises travelling exhibitions of Malaysian artists.

National Art Gallery
Located at Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin (opposite The Kuala Lumpur Railway Station), the National Art Gallery is housed in a 1932 building which is conserved under the National Heritage Trust. The building was formerly the Majestic Hotel. The art gallery showcases a the works of contemporary artists, and a permanent collection of works of local and foreign origin are also displayed. The National Art Gallery is open from 10am to 6pm daily (closed on Friday from 12:45-2.45 pm) Admission is free.

At the northen edge of the Golden Triangle) Jl Ampang was built up by early tin millionaires and is lined with impressive mansions. Many of these stately buildings have become embassies or consulates, so the street is nicknamed Embassy Row

At a dizzying height of 452 metres, Petronas Twin Towers, a pair of 88-storey buildings, are the world's tallest free-standing towers. Apart from offices, these awesome towers also house a state-of-the-art concert hall--the Petronas Philharmonic Hall, home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Petronas Performing Arts Group.
The designs on the towers are based on geometric patterns common in Islamic architecture. Special features of the towers include the double-deck sky-bridge and high speed double-deck lifts. The first few floors house shopping arcades restaurants, a science museum and the concert hall and are the only floors open to public. Admission is free, however tickets are limited and issued daily on a first-come-first-served basis.
