Why was the Petronas Twin Towers built?

SpookyFox
It is a Malaysia Boleh propaganda.

azayi1
petronas has around 30,000 employee throughout the world.. half of it works in the twin tower.. rather than make a normal buliding & rent other building.. better built a gigantic ones & put all the stuff in it.... afterall its a part of marketing strategy to compete other oil company.. to show petronas are capable & it works very well.. petronas has operations in nearly 33 countries in the world.. it support 60% of electricity to japan & south korea..
.. that's why petronas is rated among 500 fortune companies in the world.. that's why petronas are among oil company accepted in african countries.. thats the main reason... dont u know that Petronas is becoming a fierce & main competitor to other oil companies.. such as Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, TotalFinaelf.. etc2..

look in other perspective.. the tower provide jobs to ppl, give a place for family spending time & the fact it becomes tourist destination.. no doubt bout it..

--bo$$--

i dont agree with that.. due to the construction of the petronas tower does not involved any of the taxpayers money.. it only involved petronas money.. & by doing this construction it also brings jobs to the local & foreign contruction company.. taxation on those company were imposed those involved in the project even while our country are in downside economy at the time..

look at the bright sight..
ppl say in the olddays penang bridge is a waste of money.. what did they say about it now?

Because one of the world's largest oil companies had a few extra Billion rupees to spend.

Petronas is about the 3rd or 4th largest oil company in the world.

show off, only certain groups of people benefited from the project
for tourism? i don't think tourists coming to Malaysia just because of these two huge gigantic pagodas, better go to Thailand, more beautiful pagodas there

-edit-
azayi, that's why I said it benifited some people and petronas is one of them. but we ordinary people ending up paying high income tax, [ironically] high petrol oil, high price for low quality cars, high highway tolls, you name name it....

MERI KRISMAS
the gov want to show that they are selfish and not "able" to help all the poor people in the rural area in malaysia.....

Okay, maybe it was for nation pride..having at least something marvellous thing to be consider as world heritage.

Whatever it is built for, the tower has a major used though.

If u look at the tower picture, at the very peak of the tower, there are a few telecommunications receiver... and it is used for the mobile company (I think it is for maxis) and for ASTRO to beem the signal to more wider coverage.

And, the tower does give Malaysia an introduction to world travelogue as tourists like to visit any special places. Since its existance, world know where is Malaysia located.
