Because if Philippines do that, it would just clearly show that this is a Puppet Govt of United States, which already is.
Then the present Govt can not deny that already, that they are just being run thru strings by the real United States. |

The Philippines sounds better in my opinion. No need to make things more complicated by calling it something that it isn't. |

the philippines cannot be called united states of the philippines, since we are not composed of states.
philippines is an archipelago, meaning composed of islands and islets. and it would be silly to call us united states of the philippines. we have our own identity. this is what our national heroes have fought for with their own flesh and blood. |

1. No states, just regions.
2. We are not fully united (seperate islands)
3. The official name is The Republic of the Philippines. |

I think because we are one big state.. we're a country that comprises of islands and provinces and not different states unlike that of USA. Somehow i think the fact that our government is democratic, not federal has something to do with it.
Plus we're more known as Republic of the Philippines.. |

United Emirates of the Philippines (UEP)
or
UNITED PROVINCES OF DA PHILIPPINES. |
|

Maybe United Provinces of the Philippines...
Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi and other Muslim provinces are states under the Sultanate of Sulu and Sabah (Malaysia) so only these provinces will qualify for the name United States of the Philippines. |
