Oh yes it's possible. Given the right time, enough resources and righteous Filipinos who have the sense of nationalism within them, Philippines is WORTHY of what it is striving for- Not only to sell the country to people around the world, nor to be, as you say, more "tourist-friendly", but to prove to them that it is the BIGGEST MISTAKE of the foreign media to build that misconception of what you might think of my country right now.
At the end of the day, the idea of a "more tourist-friendly country" is still very much relative.
I am a Filipino, I am proud to be one.
I am from the Philippines, I am honored to be here. |

I'm not sure what some people are talking about, but I see the Philippines as a wonderful place to visit. I am an American and have been there nearly 20 times and enjoy each and every visit. There are countless amazing places to visit. Some are standard tourist-type destinations and some are more exotic and out of the way. While I have been to some amazing places in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and China, I would not count out the Philippines as a tourist spot in Asia. Yes, poverty is a factor in the Philippines, but if you have friends there, you will love it.
If you want more information on tourism in the Philippines, take a look at the following:

Thank you to all my friends in Philippines for always welcoming me to your amazing country. |

The Philippines is already a tourist-friendly country..Yet terrorists are big hindrance to many tourists to come in Philippines.
Thailand on the other hand is a bit safer. |

You got to understand one thing. Majority of Filipinos can speak English, it is a known fact. More Filipinos can speak and understand English than ANY other Asian country. Why do you see them in almost every country in the world? We are what the Mexicans are in the States...doing the jobs nobody wants, but overseas, we do engineering and nursing especially for the Middle Eastern countries. |

Yes we are. Doubts have all been hanging around Metro Manila with an est. population of 12 million. But Metro Manila is not the Philippines. We are 85 million Filipinos and the best tourist destinations are outside Metro Manila. |

NOT YET. but i'm sure it will one day if the government and the private sectors (businesses) come together to work on it and of course the full cooperation of the people.
thailand government goes the extra mile in maintaining their tourist spots, cities like bangkok have tourist information booths, extra police, english speaking cabs and the likes to make sure tourist have a convenient and safe stay.
while it is not at all hard to navigate around manila, for example, one can't find the trappings of a city that caters to tourist/tourism. so what you do is to blend in with the locals. |

It'll be a while, but it's heading that way.
It depends if the P.I can shed it's image of kidnappings and Muslims in the south. overall they are less equipped to handle as many as Thailand...but they do have lots of tourists already. the people that visit the Phils are more dirty Germans, funky Australian men, and then Japanese golfers. Of course there's also the foreign families that are in the Phils. It'll be hard to reach the Thai caliber though Phils' beaches are as good or better.
Infrastructure is a little weaker too. Like roads and transport I mean....
oh, and you CAN buy people to fulfill any desire in the Phils too...you sicko!!! in fact they might be cheaper in the Phils |

Thailand is tourist firendly because you can buy people to fullfill any sexual erversion you may have.. Are the Philipines willing to make that kind of commitment?
