If you are currently single, better maintain your status at least to the middle of your academic terms. Agree with answerers above, you may need space to allow you to socialize with new friends as well as to expand your social horizon and adjust with new environment. The existence of of a bf may limit this. Once you are comfortable with college environment, having close friends and maybe having your own group, then you are ready to be taken, that is, if the time comes. The advantage of this is you have a chance to choose somebody who is more suitable i.e. share the same interest, can motivate and help you in your studies and can mix with your friends.
Pls remember though don't ever forget your friends and your study once you have one, else you'll be isolated (like some of my friends). You need to know how to balance your time between friends, bf and study. Your bf of course need to undertand this and if he doesn't, dump him. Trust me, at this stage your friends and of course study are more important.
But if you are already taken now, I never say it's best for you to break up. A bf can be helpful especially if you don't have any other close friends yet. A couple can help each other usually by motivating, counselling or teaching each other. In this case, pls refer to my 2nd paragraph above. |

I was taken when I start college, it was one of the biggest mistake I've ever made. I made less friends than other people, when my ex didn't come to class, I really don't know who to hang out with, so I was basically all on my own when she's not around.
And the worse thing is, it's hard to find new friends in the middle of the year because everyone has got their own 'gang' and they don't feel comfortable for new people to join them, unless u're very special. |

Why would it matter?
This kind question is weird.
Look, if you already fallen in love and got that guy as your boyfriend, why should you care about this things. And if not, don't just go looking around for love. That makes you really desparate and that just plainly scare guys or make some guys to just go after your body. |

Single when you're starting, let the options open, and taken by the time you're finishing...coz when you're working already, you'll be bound to the working hours and the working environment.. makin it difficult to find one that really suits you. |
