depends, in my situation, since i am a nurse, there is more opportunity to work abroad and be payed thrice or more than that of the usual salary here, but as i hav started in a public hospital, everytime i see my patients, who are really below the poverty line, i always thought that i can't go anywhere living this people like this, you see, there is a shortage of health care professionals here in out country, there is a high instance malpractice in the medical field when unexperienced employees where put on guard, so i think going abroad still depends on someone, but for me, i wouldn't, even though i hate the economist in malacanang, i have no choice but to stay and help, but still we cannot tell what can happen next.
p.s. this examples not only goes for medical professionals but to all professionals... |

I tried not to answer this question since it was posted but since it hit my soft spot. My emotion got the better of me. Be ready for a long story.
I would rather live in the Philippines if not for the thought that my kids will not have a secured life after schooling and when they have their family of their own. Our fear before migrating was the thought if one of our kids (knock on wood) will not finish their school. What will happen to them? At least, in another country, they can have jobs even without the diploma and can still establish themselves. Would still be able to buy a house and car.
Me and my wife had very good jobs there before we left. We had good company benefits because we both held upper management positions. The time came when we had several vacancies in our respective companies and doing interviews. We noticed how the graduates of the best schools were competing in the entry level positions. It was not the case 10 or 15 years ago. We asked ourselves if our kids will experience our professional life when they grow up. We both answered negatively. We had a neighbor's daughter also that graduated *** laude in UP but could not find a job for 6 months. She ended up handing out cellphone brochures in a mall to help her augment the needs of the family. My wife and family knows that I do not want to live overseas. I was still in high schoool and my brother from Canada was petitioning us already but turned it down a couple of times. We ended up in another country as independent applicants.
We still have a house there and no plans to sell it. I am still looking forward to live and die there.
I am looking forward to live there again for the rest of my life. I will exchange my life in another country anytime but not for kids future. Maybe. its only my apprehension.
Apologies for this long and confusing answer. I want to edit it and say so many things but maybe you will report all my answers and questions as 'abuse'. Lol.................. |

If to just earn some dollars or euros for a living in just few years, why not? Leave for a while, maybe for a few years in Europe, but to enjoy my time with my family, there is no better place, it has to be in the Philippines. |

That is a tough question. I was never born there, but I have family and have visited there. There are many good reasons to go as well as many to stay. Many relatives have immigrated to the U.S. because of the opportunities here, but there is something so special about the Philippines one cannot find anywhere else. Where else can you go where everyone stops in their tracks for the Angelus? There is so much culture and religion there. I think I would eventually like to retire there. |

There's no place like home, so for me I would work abroad save more money and retire in Phil. and live like a queen...hahaha... where can you find a cheap katulong anyway? Sa Pinas even if you are only middle class buhay reyna tayo, kasi may katulong sa bahay. |

i would grab the opportunity to live abroad, but only for a while [and i'd rather go to europe than the states]. eventually, i'd come back, of course.. there's nothing like home sweet home :D there's too much to turn my back on by leaving permanently [not including vacation trips]. |

Id rather grab opportunity abroad, there are so many graduating students in the Philippines that up to now they cant find a better job & earn a better salary to support their family. I guess its easier to work abroad, besides at any age you can out there,as long as your healthy and still has the energy to work and do their job. |

if i have given the chance to live in abroad, i will have to consider few things first before i can decide. it's not that easy to move home specially when cultures & lifestyles differs from what you have out grown. |

If I had the means of making a living in the Philippines, as I do here in the US. If I there was any stability and a foreseeable end to government corruption, there would no question of my preference to live among the kindness and wholeheartedness of the Filipino people. |

People just go out of the country because of financial security matters. If one has all those in the Philippines, that person will definitely stay. The Philippines is a beautiful country. I have already been to many countries and still nothing compares to its natural beauty and the people's culture. |

I'm a very adventurous person, so maybe I would grab an opportunity abroad for a while, get a taste of how life is like in there, then come back home in no time... I'd surely miss Philippines :) |

it's nice to think of being able to live abroad but the question is, what for?
is it for a better life? for me, not really...
i mean, when you do decide to live there, you'd be just another immigrant in a tax hungry country. when you live there, everything would be so expensive that you wouldn't feel "kaginhawaan" after all..
i'd suggest you work abroad and start your family here, retire here, and die here. You will be treated with upmost respect for that fact that you are a "balik-bayan". and the amount of money you earn doubles, tripples, and maybe quadruples in actual amount when you do spend them here. that's why my tita's prefer to shop here. |

it depends on the country. if i'll be having an opportunity to live in italy, germany or USA, why not. but if it will just be somewhere in africa or indonesia, i'd rather stay in the philippines. |

I've been living abroad for so long that I don't even know much about Manila and my place in Camarines Sur (Nabua)
anymore, other than what I occasionally read and hear from various sources. But part of me will ALWAYS be a Filipino. |

since my job is here In Us and so is my husband i prefer living here, but i do like to go back and forth to the Philippines. |

It depends on which part of the world I'd be given the chance to live in. If I am to choose between any country in the Middle East and the Philippines, I'd rather stay here. Between China and the Phil, I'd rather stay here. If you mean WORK however and If I have the chance to be to any country to work that would multiply my earnngs in the Philippines, I'd rather be there to work.. To live forever in a place so faraway is a no-no... I'll just work... |
