yes i'd agree. imagine a triangle signifying a pool of boyfriendables, and that initially she has a wide base of prospective right men.

as she gets smarter, she goes up the triangle where the target population of right men dwindles because of additional requisites that eliminate more candidates.

this goes on until the peak is reached where supposedly only one remains, the perfect right man.

but she'd never find him because they nailed him to the cross a long time ago.

I don't think so. I just think that the smarter a woman gets, the more she realizes about her own self worth, and therefore the more men she will reject without giving them a second thought.

I wasn't even looking for a husband and found him by accident at a gas station. I'm well-educated, attractive, well-spoken...and yet I had no trouble with the husband issue.

If Oprah said that, what she should have said was the more a woman earns, the harder it becomes to find the right husband.

i think it is question less of how smarter a woman gets than of when the right person comes along, regardless of who or what he is. the intellect (or reason) and emotion (or passion) don't intertwine. they always wage war against each other.

but that's only an opinion.

No, i dont agree. if they fall in love, they will find a way to get this guy. but, if they are perfectionist, they cant get the right man.

i think that's true because the more that a woman is getting smarter, she looks for higher standards in a guy (good looks, good job, good attitude)...

i agree, and sometimes they don't even care about men anymore.

people who are smart wants someone better, geniuses on the other hand, likes something better.

Very true. My daughter is genius, teaches special ed, masters degreed, etc. Every man she meets fails to match her intellectually and its hard to form a meaningful relationship with someone you cannot converse with.

Very true. And more often than not, one ends up downplaying her intellect to make do with an "almost right man" =)

perhaps there may be some truth to that. Men may become intimidated by her. However there are men who are attracted to intelligent women, so it really depends.

Yes, I agree. It is because the more smart she becomes, the more choosy she will be. It is not just any man for her but one who is intellectually compatible if not, one who surpasses everything that she is.

Yeah, I agree.

We're women, of course, we wait for the guy to make the first move. But most guys, tend to hesitate to approach women who are better than they are, not knowing that women just waits for them to make the first move *sigh*.

I think intelligent women can find the right man easier, if she goes to college/university. Its what I call a target rich environment. The older she gets the more difficult it is to find men who are still available. She meet fewer new contacts every day and more people are already in a committed relationship.

maybe they scared they might chose dumb men...and it will make them "not smart"

If you would agree with that statement, you should also agree with exchanging the genders in it.

So, do you agree that the smarter a man gets, the more difficult it is for him to find the RIGHT woman?

I mean, can you see the slight absurdity of the question as you said was poised by Ms. Winfrey becomes, if not a bias one.

For does it entail that less-smarter women find the WRONG men & that being a smart female tends one to look at most males as WRONG partners because they now have the capacity to.

People are made differently more so, men and women are totally made differently.

And mostly people that are similar in most if not all of the few things that make up the more important in life are generally compatible or get along just fine. And that just makes them totally different in the vast majority of the lesser aspects of life or living.

But if Oprah is implying that the reason why she or a lot of her female friends are not married is that they had gotten smart then maybe she is right. Maybe they are better off single or just having live-in partners.
