I am planning to do my masters in accounting and then find a job and settle down in Australia.
Which city is a good option. I was the city to have decent universities and plenty of job opportunities.
I don't really like big cities and I am of Indian descent !

Melbourne (seems ok)
Canberra (not sure)
Sydney (seems an overwhelming city)
Brisbane (havent considered it)

All of the cities that you have listed are over a million with the exception of Canberra with about 300,000. Melbourne might be your best choice as it fills your other criteria.

melbourne.. RMIT is a veri recognised uni and melbourne is a beautiful place.. great ocean road, philip island..

going on your own assumptions.pick melbourne

I think Melbourne sounds like the place for you! Even though you don't like big cities, in comparison to the rest of the world no city in Aussie is actually that big, and Melbourne is very sophisticated. Also it's not as though you have to live in the city centre as it has many suburbs on the outskirts/edge of town, and commuting is very afforbable, but i'm bias because of its amazing shopping and beautiful weather

Have you thought about far North Queensland. There is a good university in Townsville, and it is not a big city, and I think an accountant would do very well there. I went to university there and it is really good. Climate would possibly be familiar to you, it is pretty warm, humid and has a wet season from time to time. The university is called James Cook University. Look it up on the web.

Move to terrigal, on the central coast ( next to gosford )
its really good there.

melbourne: rains a lot, plenty of toll roads...
canberra: very cold, lots of politicians...
sydney: don't do it.
brisbane: very big city by area, great weather, but you'll be an hour from the closest beach (it's all mangrove swampy crap here)
adelaide: relaxed, strange laws, plenty of old churches.

so consider brisbane, adelaide, or if you have to and you can put up with it, melbourne

I live in Australia, and have been to both of the major work capitals.
Melbourne and Sydney are the main ones.
Melbourne is bigger, but Sydney is busier. I don't know which one you mean you dont like when you say 'big'.
Sydney is more for tourism. i reccomend Melbourne.

Can you do your course in Darwin? Darwin in only a small city but has everything you need. It has a university, beaches, shops, a great night life and plenty of Indians. It also has plenty of jobs. The unemployment rate here is low and I think it would be zero if people actually wanted to work (plenty of locals don't want the jobs). I moved here from QLD 3 years ago and got a job within half an hour. Otherwise I like Brisbane, it's a easy going kind of place and still sort of small. I hated Melbourne. It was too big and to overwelming but I'm from a small town.

sydney is huge but easy to get around due to public transport.
you can live in suburbia and look at upto or more than an hour of travel a day. Sydney is great fun and good Universities and technical institutes.
Good luck

I would say if you don't like really massive cities then Brisbane is for you. It has five of the top ten universities in australia and its not a massive city like melbourne or sydney. Brisbane is currently thriving but has had a great need for hard working people in a range of jobs and it would be perfectly suited to your criteria.

Melbourne is the best city in Australia
