I am a Canadian expat living in Australia, I find Australians love this song. Myself, I think patriotism to any country is the devil, and avoid it altogether by being indifferent to every country, I don't even sing national anthems.

Will K
hay im and Aussie stop being a bloody dick head you toss pot Australia is the best dam country in the world

Jared
Embarrassed? HELL NO! I love this song. One of my personal favorites if there ever was one. Oh, and I can't say I've ever left Australia, and people say it's best to listen to this song while away from Australia to fully appreciate it, but I really do just love the meaning behind this song.

Jared.

You must be kidding. That's patriotic goosebumps, tear in the eye territory for me and most other Aussies. Thanks for the opportunity to hear it again.

Jasmine
No, of course not. Why would we be?

I love Australia, it's great and I'm so lucky to be living here.
:)

No I'm not ! Personally I was never a fan of Peter Allen but this one song tapped into the Australian ethos...

If you don't understand the words or worse still , don't listen to them , you won't get it !

Elizabeth
I love it.
I just got goosebumps listening to it again.
Thanks for the link.

If you don't get the sentiment now, then you never will.
Surely everyone in the world should feel like that about their homeland.

tuppenybitz

I love the song and I don't think it is anything to be embarrassed about it.

Bardy
You just do not like anything Australian dangerous, do us all a favour and GO HOME!

Mel
Why would we be embarrassed by our home country. Rather live here then anywhere.

I am embarrassed that people like you represent yourself as an Australian, you are an insult.
