Are New Zealanders friendlier than Aussies?

I'm an American visiting New Zealand and have also lived in Australia. I asked a friend tour guide and world traveler who said that originally New Zealanders WANTED to go there whereas folk going to Oz HAD to go there, but I'd think that any negative traits would be bred out.
I also have a brother and son who were also really impressed with their nice-ness and I'm starting to agree with them!
The tap water here is the best I've ever tasted and the air seems purer with a sweet fragrance.
Ask me again in a week when I return home!

The Kiwi's should be happy, they generally beat us in the cricket and the footy. It's pretty sad that a lot of people think us Aussies are rude, I know some Aussies that I wouldn't feed, but then some would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. It depends on the person. Just remember that we are not all rude, arrogant and stuck up. The majority of us want to be left alone to get along with life, but are keen to have a chat. A lot of Aussies will give you a hard time, but that generally means we like you. And remember, we are so much better than you. lol, just kidn.

I'm an Aussie, but I have just had the pleasure of participating in an international tour, with performers from all sorts of countries. Many of them only had a basic grasp of the English Language.
It made for interesting drinks, my friend...

Of course, travelling around Australia, we'd often ask them how they were finding the place.
They all said that Australia was one of the friendliest places they had ever visited (and they have been almost everywhere).
When travelling to NZ, the whole persona changed.
They said New Zealanders were friendly enough, but if you mentioned you had been to Australia, it became a slag fest.

What is the NZ issue with Australia???

Well I'm from New Zealand, travelled to Oz heaps of times and travelled around South East Asia, where I met heaps of NZers and Australians. There are definately *****s in both countries but in my opinion yeah New Zealanders are friendlier than Australians. Don't get me wrong I have met a few cool Aussies but all in all majority Australians I've ever meet seem to have this "I'm way better than you attitude".... quite up themselves.

Mate, it depends on the person. In all countries you have assh0les and friendly people. You really can't say that an entire country is the same.

I'm sorry you've only met pricks in Australia, I can assure you we aren't all like that.

Only the middle class Kiwis visit Oz that's why all of the one you meet come a cross as friendly.

I'm an NZer, used to live in Sydney 13 years ago & found Aussies awful, particularly after finding out where I was from but just went back for the first time since then & stayed 2 months & it's all changed & I found it friendly & really positive towards kiwis now, no negativity at all. Also Sydney seemed alot more conservative & all the rudeness & aggressiveness had disappeared, but I have to say, so has some of the personality! Especially on TV. So many of them just seem like serious newsreader types instead of entertainers, especially on the shows that are supposed to be lighthearted like all those morning shows they have on each channel (you know the chat shows with all the informercials on).

My verdict is that most NZers & Aussies would be considered friendly but maybe it depends which part of Oz you're going to as 2 years ago I was in Perth & alot of people there were awful & I never intend going back there.
