Are australian people nice to americans? I'm thinking of visiting and I want to know how I would be treated.

Oh come on all you ******* say what is exactly on your minds,,,NO we don't really like the yanks and all you political bullsh*t and we dont like your lack of manners,your rudeness and your fantastic egos,,,,but the only thing I do agree on is Queensland is the best destination.

lol of course you will be treated by the vast majority of Aussies... YOU may come across a jerk .. but Jerks are every where....

we might pull your leg a little and spin a few yarns at your expense .. but we do that to everybody .. so please leave any thin skin you may have back in the states and enjoy your time here....

as for the climate ... well it can get hotter than 45'c ( 113 F) in some places during summer without too much trouble .. Today in Melbourne is 37'C ( 98.6 f) ...

you will have a great time here .. just relax and treat the locals with the respect you would like to be treated with.. and things will be ok.

EDIT .. When you Read Johnny's answer ( below mine ) remember what I wrote "YOU may come across a jerk .. but Jerks are every where...." EVEN IN YAHOO ANSWERS.

I think you will find the vast Majority of Australians like Americans.I think you will find a lot don't like your government sometimes.
But Americans themselves,you will have a great time and not that many travel here as say Australians go to the USA.
We share a common language and customs but are still very different in alot of ways.I been to the USA all over was treated great,expect the same here.
As for weather,I would say very much like California.But can get cold down south and Very tropical up North.But it never gets as cold as a mid West winter.It only snows here in some mountains and if it snows lower down which is very rare,it never lays.So bring a warm sweater and some summer stuff,if you think you need more,buy it here and save the room in your bags for all the great stuff to take home,

Hi there, My hubbie is american and we have to travel and live back and forth. At the moment we are settled in Australia. Through the personal experience my hubbie got it's very varied. Sometimes you will get people who love to talk to you and find out more about your country and are great, although lots of aussies do not know where things are in america and ask silly questions like "oh you live in florida, i have an uncle who lives in los angeles, is that close by?". But other times you get treated like crap. They think you are loaded (very rich) and really rude, which i'm sorry to say some of your are soooooo rude. But some aussies will jump to this conclusions very early. But all in all my hubbie said it's not that bad at all and we are living here now so either he got used to it or it's not too bad.

Oh and queensland has the warmest climate and so does northern territory. They reach around the 40 degrees celcius mark in summer. I would definitly go up to Cairns (queensland). you'll find a bunch of bacpackers there too if ya like the warm weather.

Most australians are great and will accept you now matter what... i don't think you'll have any problems.... and about the climate it depends what time of year but northern australia is hottest but at times really wet.... as i say australians are generally very open minded people...

as someone above said, not many aussies like your government so you may get a hard time over that.

but the most important thing is to be yourself. dont try to be all aussie while you are her by going "g'day mate" in your american accent unless you know the person really well!...some australians (including me) find the american accent saying "g'day mate" very annoying and irritating!

if you be yourself, you should be fine. Just dont try to provoke people into fights, dont try to rip people off and dont mess with street people (suspicious looking)

i may sound a little critical on you and my country but i see lots of Americans on here complaining about our citizens after a holiday because they did one simple thing that you can do in the US but not here.

be yourself, have a great time, dont end up in jail and come back again one day soon!

I am an Aussie and I take all people on face value not where they come from. I can't speak for all Aussie's but the majority of people I know feel the same as I do.

I hope you enjoy Australia.

So long as your not overly annoying or ignorant you should be fine. Just use your common sense and people wont judge you.

The warmest climate would be in Darwin or Alice Springs, not really tourist destinations for 1st time visitors to Australia.

I suggest you visit the Gold Coast - warm, golden beaches, Sydney and Melbourne.

Australia's weather doesnt get too cold, more a mild day and a cool night, nothing extreme like in America.

Depends where in Aussie u go as to wether the people are nice. genrally though people are nice.

I personally think that if you go to Aussie you have to go to Queensland. its warm and there is so much to do and see. Queensland is mostly warm all year round but does have it moments.
