You receive what you give. Australians are very friendly and open, unless you are not.

Very friendly,I've been numerous times and have always been made welcome.

Live_For_Today
We are very friendly here and most Australians will say hello to someone on their morning walks. You get all sorts of people in every country, but as one other poster said "you get treated by how you treat others". We also have a good sense of humour here, so bring your jokes.

coffee
Most of them are! Ozzies are generally very welcoming but much depends where they came from.

Yes most are very friendly But today they are more cautious than they used to be. Many people are very busy and they don't have much time to be neighbourly. I live in an apartment and we all say Hullo to each other but only a few will stop long enough to spend a minute or two with you. I find if you get a conversation going with someone they respond very well .

Depends where you go, people in Sydney seem to be up themselves, very prententious... I know u cant generalise but lived there for 6months and all of them seemed to be like that... People in Melbourne and Perth much nicer. But Sydney much prettier place, ya gotta take the good with the bad i suppose...

Yes Australians are very friendly, I came here for 16 months in 2004 and came back last october. Some towns are very laid back like Mackay, we stayed there for 9months.

They look like they are on neighbors. But in real life they all drink fosters and wear hats with corks dangling off them.
