Yolo

Are there any famous animals in Australia?

I don't mean like koalas and kangaroos etc, but in the context of waltzing matilda the kangaroo or Sam the koala. My daughter is doing a project for school and we can't seem to find any, other than those 2. Any help is great thanks.

Expo Oz - the platypus mascot of World Expo '88.
Matilda the Kangaroo - the mascot for the 1982 Commonwealth Games held in Brisbane.
Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.
The Boxing Kangaroo.
The Bunyip - just kidding.

Gee, this isn't as easy as I thought it would be.

I don't suppose you mean animals like Phar Lap or Gunsynd?
Then there is Simpson and his donkey from WW1.

The story of the soldier who rescued wounded men on Gallipoli with a donkey has been told to successive generations of schoolchildren. Simpson's actions are regarded as the highest expression of mateship, and he remains one of Australia's best known historical figures.

The bronze statue of Simpson and his donkey helping a wounded soldier is outside the Australian War Memorial Canberra, Australia.

Kenny Echidna and Bakana Bilby - around 7:30 PM at night they come on television and say good night boys and girls, time for bed. Although I hear that Kenny has been axed, but Bakana Bilby is alive and well.

There is also "Fat Cat" Big orange cat, Humphrey B Bear, Percy penguin all TV Celebrities.

Sam the koala is definitely really famous now. Other two i can think of are the movie star Nemo (clown fish in "Finding Nemo") and Sweetheart, the huge crocodile in Darwin is fairly known too.

I believe that Tazmania is a state of Australia and the most famous animal then would be the "Devil".

Whatever are you asking about? Do you understand what you asked?
Australia has many unique fauna and flora. Other than kangaroos and koalas, consider echidnas, wombats, platypuses, emus, kookaburras, goannas and so on.
