There are around 21 million kangaroos in Australia (2006 figures).
Of these around half are Eastern Grey kangaroos, and a third are Red kangaroos.
The Australian sheep population is getting on for 100 million, so quite a few more than kangaroos..

There are around 113 million sheep in Australia. It is hard to judge the exact number of kangaroos because they're wild, but the four main species are estimated to number anything between 35 to 50 million.
It is interesting to note that Kangaroos (all 63 or so species of them) are one of the most numerous large wild animals on earth.
