Contact ANY of the local hospitals throughout regional Australia and I'd be amazed if you don't get a warm reception.

Some suggestions in my area that might be a good climate for a pom ... Goulburn, Mittagong, Queanbeyan, Canberra, Yass, Wagga ... and it goes on. They are always recruiting nurses.

To those who think you owe a debt .... are they living the same rules?

Western Queensland would be a great place to start - I am biased as I work in administration in a small Western Queensland Hospital! You would love to work for the Central West Health Services District as part of the Queensland Health team. Come and experience the 'Wild West' - you won't forget it in a hurry. Good luck - you will love it where ever you go in this great country.

Regional Australia has a desperate shortage of both nurses and doctors. They only stay a shot time in the country and then bolt straight for the biggest city. Try Googleing hospitals in the Australia section and send a note to every hospital you come up with. You would find a home in rural Australia, very easily

regional WESTERN AUSTRALIA is in shortage of nurses, as is nsw. places like broome could do with some nurses. maybe contact the Federal Nursing Association? (FNA)

I think there's a country wide shortage for decent nurses, if you're one of them then come on over! Forget the comments about giving back, you would be, we're convicts remember? ;) lol really, you don't have to do "rural" either, like hot weather? Try Rockhampton QLD (Queensland, yeah!). It's inland from the great barrier reef. Plenty of shops, cheap housing and a very laid back and easy atmosphere.

There is currently a shortage of doctors and nurses in Australia, particularly in regional areas.

Nurses are currently in high demand in Australia with opportunities for permanent and temporary work available.

As a nurse myself I fully understand why you would want to look into nursing abroad and why not indeed. I say go for it.

As for giving something back to the UK ....what does the UK have to offer you job wise? Probably not alot in the NHS! Poor conditions and low pay with too much red tape!
I say try Australia. My husband and I are both nurses with too much commitment in UK at the moment but we do fully plan to head down under in the next two years!
Good luck.
I would suggest first off looking at a migration expert and getting your skills assessed in order to nurse in Australia. You have to do this now in order to ensure you fit the bill to work out in Australia as a nurse.
Also do a web search of hospitals in the areas in which you would want to consider living. For us it would be Queensland or Western Australia.

Good Luck.

you'll get a job easily because there's a shortage

Come to Perth.

I love girls in uniform!

Well, I'd rather them OUT of their uniform but nurses are a real 'turn-on' for me!

Hibee
You could try giving something back to your own country first.

Hollie-Raie's Mummy!
why do you want to run abroad as soon as you have qualified, dont you wanna give something back to this country first, to the NHS who actualy funded you through your course! is you ask me thats quite selfish. get some experience here, give something back to the taxpayers who paid for your training and then move abroad!
