Aussies, did you turn your lights off for Earth Hour? |
What did you and your family do to pass the time?
We did and we went for a walk. It was really eery and dark. An excellent cause, we should do it once a week or month, after all it's just an hour.

Thats ok Elizabeth :) you certainly make up for it with your weekly gatherings. I like the sound of it, hopefully I can convince my family to try the same thing next week. |

Every Friday evening the family come over and we sit on the deck for dinner. So we don't have the TV on and only the kitchen light is on and their lights are off at their homes.
(We use candles on the table).
It's good to relax and get in touch with the family.
No we didn't do anything special tonight. (Oops, forgot.) |

We do turn them off, but we all stayed home outside the backyard. We talk, there's just not enough time to talk. Talking is something my family do very best. |

but i kept a light on in my room cos I had study to do
surprisingly no one else in my area seemed to embrace it though.. when i looked out my window there were still quite a lot of lights on

We did because we weren't home. We were at my cousins 18th, just home now. Because all the family were there all of our lights were off for a few hours. |

Earth hour is a load of rubbish. Turning off a few light for one hour doesn't make a difference in the overall energy consumption. I was glad to see so many restaurants, businesses etc who didn't bother getting caught up in the cr@p.
If you want to make a difference, then think about how much energy you are using on a daily basis. Turn off lights in rooms which aren't occupied, turn off appliances when you leave a room. Little things like this over a long period make more difference than bloody earth hour. |
