The thing I can assue you is that he probably isn't just coming there to gest US papers, if he was from a poor country then some people have been known to do that, but Australia is a wealthy country and the average Aussie family would have everything that the average US family would have or even more. It's a really good and steady country. If he is who he says he is then he is probably just coming coz he see's a future with her, maybe he has never felt this way for another girly before, he could also be lonely too and not being able to meet somebody, but the most important thing to make sure your sis knows is to meet him in a public place, and DON'T go anywhere with him alone untill she knows him for sure, maybe even bringing you or a friend with her and maybe showing her sites aboust internet danger or vids on youtube aboust it that will give her more of an understanding of this danger. Hope this helps. :] |

The thing about these sites is you only get to meet people's personality and don't get to see their looks.
He's probably decided that your sister is a really nice girl who has a beautiful personality and probably just wants to meet her and possibly take their relationship a bit further.
He could try finding someone closer but maybe he just really likes your sister and wants to meet her. |

I use to work in Surfers Paradise up in the Gold Coast. N this girl that I messed around with mother met a guy like that. N they got married and he moved over to OZ. I guess everything was good they had a kid together even. So you never know. I guess true love has no boundaries. |

Hey Danielle,
It's lovely that you're looking out for your sister, you sound like you really do care for her and I can totally understand why you'd be concerned about him coming over to meet her. But I want to share with you my thoughts on finding love online & overseas, which will hopefully help ease any of those concerns.
I'm an Aussie guy myself, and I met a girl in September last year through Myspace. It was a completely random encounter mind you - when I added her as a friend I actually thought we'd never even talk. As it happened though, we commented each other through Myspace a few times, which gradually led to emails, which led to chatting on MSN, talking on the phone and finally talking through webcam via Skype. Our relationship has developed to the point now where next month I'm jetsetting off to the UK for a yet-unknown period of time so I can be with her!
We're absolutely head over heels for each other, we email every day and catch up at least once a week for a good old webcam chat. Even though Australia has a population of around 10 million females, I only have eyes for this one girl who lives 10,000 miles away. I can only hope that we show each other as much love in physical life as we do online, and I can only hope that our love will grow stronger, but what I know for sure is that I'm 100% committed to going over there and at least finding out the answer. And I have faith that the guy your sister is talking to feels exactly the same.
There's a few things I recommend you do to help make the situation easier on you - perhaps you could suggest these ideas to your sister:
* Email the guy yourself. Try not to sound too much like you're looking out for your sister, but introduce yourself and maybe ask him a few friendly questions about the weather or what he does for a living, just to get some conversation happening. That way things won't be so awkward if you do meet him one day, and you'll at least have an idea of what to expect. If he really likes your sister he'll have no problems talking back to you. I talk quite regularly to my girl's family via email, and I know it's helped them immensely to see that I'm not some kind of psychotic weirdo murderer.
* Find out if he has a Myspace or Facebook profile and do some research on him. See what his interest are, see who his friends are, and add him as a friend if you like. You don't even have to talk to him, but as with the email idea, it'd be good to establish some kind of mutual connection.
* Does your sis chat to him on webcam? If so, ask if you can sit in for 5 minutes to meet him, see what he looks like and say hi. If they don't use webcam, suggest that they buy one so they can a least see how they react to each other face-to-face, before physically meeting each other.
In any case, you can take my word for it that if an Aussie guy is willing to pack up his bags and travel overseas to meet an American girl, he really is doing it out of the love in his heart <3
I really hope things go well for the two of them, and I hope your sister appreciates the care and concern you are showing for her. All the best!! |

Don't worry about it.I talked to a guy from the US when I was younger.I visited him in Connecticut for Christmas.I had a great time meeting his family and his friends. At the end the relationship ended.I guess in a way we both realised that distance relationships do not really work.I am sure he is not after the papers. Our living standards here are really good.I guess for him it is an adventure to visit a girl in the USA and for your sister it is an adventure as well to have someone visit her from Australia. |
