Australia is ok, I live here.
I have never been to New Zealand but I have heard good things about it. The population of New Zealand is smaller, so I would say it would be more quiet and probably more peaceful.
But most of the people in Australia are friendly. Either way I don't think you would be making the wrong decision.

I am from aussie and live in nz... I LOVE Australia and think its awesome ...but HOT and busy. New Zealand is beautiful and sometimes very COLD!! It depends on the climate you want to live in and do you want to be in a big city or small town? Both countries are in recession, you get paid more in Aussie but housing etc is cheaper in NZ... you need to do you research before you make that decision.
If you like skiing go to NZ if you love the beach go to Aussie.

Well, think about it. Every country isn't perfect, okay. Each country has some horrid past behind it, and each country has had a war too.
Think of how lucky you are to be in America, the land of the free. Many people would literally die to be in a place like this and your taken it for granted?
plus, each country has crime, no country is perfect.

i know that new zealand has a fairly diverse economy, with industry, livestock (dairy, beef, wool), food industry (kiwi!), etc. and besides, new zealand has a gorgeous landscape! and LotR was filmed there. that alone is more than enough reason for me to move there!

NZ has less crime than Australia, if you google search the world ranking statistics, but strangely they seem to think it's the other way around.

Australia fares better economically than NZ but NZ is cheaper to live in, particularly for renting or buying a home.

All countries only let "certain" people in, that is law abiding, healthy people who have work skills that are in short supply in the country they are going to (such as doctors, nurses, engineers, IT professionals, etc). I have no idea why so many people have the idea that anyone can up & move anywhere in the world & just start working there. I know I can't do that so I don't get why so many others on here don't know that!

New Zealand is beautiful and has a cooler climate. It's quieter, I guess.
Australia is also beautiful, and has more job opportunities. :P
