Australia VS USA? |
I've watch a few Australian stuff on youtube and so far, I can't tell the difference between USA and Australia. I've heard them mentioned a few stuff that America has (same magazines, same TV show, etc.). Other than the accent and the nice people, I can't tell the difference. What is the difference between Australia and USA?
Part of me wants to move out of the USA and live in another country. Additional Details How are the laws different?
For example, here we have freedom of speech, etc.
How is healthcare?
How is online ordering (which I do alot here)?
How is crime?
Are the people really nicer than the USA? You ofthen hear that southern USA people are nice. Is Australia peple nicer than that? |

Australia has Medicare, a universal health care system whereby everyone is covered for medical treatment. We also have private health insurance but I just use Medicare, it's fine.
We have some US TV shows but we also have a lot from the UK and we make our own. Most magazines are Australian rather than imported.
We do not have a gun culture. Most people do not own guns and we have few gun deaths compared with the USA. In Australia a shooting makes the front page. In the USA, with 40,000 gun deaths a year, a shooting is lucky to get a mention.
We are not controlled by the religious right. Australians treat proselytising religious people with suspicion. Anyone can worship in any way they like but don't try to force your views on others. We are happy with atheists and have had many atheist politicians including Prime Ministers and State Premiers.
We don't have a tipping culture. People get paid a fair wage for the work they do. If you want to reward exceptional service, feel free to do so but we don't tip people just for doing the job they are paid to do - and that includes taxi drivers.
We have cricket in summer and Australian football and the two rugby codes in winter. We also have a strong interest in soccer. Basketball is reasonably popular but not as big as netball for participation. You will find baseball and softball and even American football but you will have to look for it. |

well, Australia is better than the USA in almost every way, as is every other country in the world. If you can't tell the difference between your own country and Australia, you are too ignorant and we don't want you here so please stay in the USA.
The laws are pretty much the same except we don't have guns (which is a good thing) and the police are much nicer when they pull you over for speeding. We also drive on the left.
Freedom of speech, are you an idiot or what? don't ask stupid questions
we have universal healcare i think allot like canada
online ordering, well the internet is all over the world so it isn't much different
We have relativly little crime, lately no school shootings, no terrorists
I am not sure about whether the people are nice or what, not sure
Most of us Live on the coast in cities

Australia is far better, everyone is so laid back, we don't have guns and go around killing people. there is a lot less people only 21 million over an island the size of europe.
Safer, better beaches, not as fat, betetr beer, everyone calls you 'mate', guys are cuter. we get a lot of american crap TV but there is also australian TV and other stuff which you wouldn't know aboutunlss you lived here. |

Australia is similar but not the same as the USA, kinda with a British slant. |

There is little difference between Australia and USA.
In a supplementary question you ask "How is crime?".
OK on both counts. The Australian is a far better criminal than the American and doesn't have to shoot or stab anywhere near the same number of people in the course of his work.
Everyone's a winner. |

I've been in both countries several times and for long lengths of time and, in my opinion is unfair to compare one with the other.
Yes, they are "completely" different one with the other.
Australia is more inviting and the geography is totally different than USA, in the sense that you have to remember that its a continent on its own, but also a huge island in the middle of so many cultures.
USA in the other hand, is part of a continent. Doesn't have the multicultural knowledge and "education" as Australians do have. This country is more "cold" and un-inviting and their culture is more "closed to themselves and very narcissist". Australia is not.
Australia is open, and people can see and experience it as it is, with its awesome people showing straight out what they think and not holding up anything as USA people does.
Also, governments are totally different and again, Australians are more "cultured and educated" than the so called "Americans"...
By the way: I am an American, or as I prefer to say: A USA citizen because I don't think is neither fair or right to say "American"... America is a Continent, not a country. See what I said about "narcissism"? |
