They also share a sense of humour that the Yanks don't understand!
They also share a good tempered sporting rivalry with each other, and like to beat each other at anything going!!!
At the moment they still share the same Queen as well!
And when it comes down to it they actually get on very well together even though they don't like to admit it really! |

Same language, same Queen, same love of cricket and rugby.
Also Aussies have a wicked sense of humour that matches our British wit - sarcastic and a bit on the naughty side.
Never been to Australia but I'm dying to visit some day! |

Beer buddies. Ozzies are the natural descendents of the Brits. Miles apart in distance very close in attitudes. |

between the Aussie's and English people the similarities are:
the humour
the love of beer
the love of REAL music
cricket, rugby....the love of sport
the language
the queen
the average height
the medical system is very similar
we drive on the same side of the road
theres lots of similiarities between the people because 70% of Oz are either direct, second or third decendant of the British (90% of that figure are English)
Between Oz and England as in "country" -
not a great deal,
the street and town names
tassy has similar weather |

I'm an Australian living in London (along with about 500,000 others).
Australia was founded by the English, and even with multiculturalism back there, the English influence is still very strong - they speak English, drink beer, play a lot of English sports, eat a lot of the same food, listen to the same music and watch the same movies.
The educational & health systems are also similar, so its fairly easy for an Australian to work in an English hospital, or an English teacher to get a job at an Australian school. |

What a naive question! Speaking English and drinking beer in pubs may be "similarities" but many other countries do the same.
Is the USA "similar" to England?
Australia is so different to England in its wildlife, geography, climate, and its way of life that it is pointless to ask for similarities.
But thanks for the two points. |

Street names, suburbs and railway stations have similar names. Wonder why? Australia should have names like Tai Chun Toy. Jalan Busuh, Mindanoodles etc. - it is more exciting!!! |
