As for racism - you will get that in ANY country - its a world wide problem for the few selected people. Australia is VERY multicultural and you will be welcome to visit or live here without any problems providing you have the right documents.

To generalise a WHOLE country by the opinion of ONE person is obviously indicative of your intelligence. As with ANY country, some people don't like other people. Simple as that. I'm a white Australian, I've plenty of black and Asian friends, have visited plenty of African, European Christian and Muslim countries and have no problem with any nationalities or races in particular. Of course, like SOME white people I've met, SOME of the black people I've met have been not my cup of tea. I could say the same of some white-British people I've met, some white-Americans I've met.....some Japanese people I've met.....you get the idea.
The "somebody" that told you sounds like a racist, if they can make a sweeping statement about a whole country of people, when I doubt that he/she has met every single one of us.

Racism exist in every country. You will find a small group of idiots who go causing trouble here, but generally - people are so multicultural here, and being black is NOT an issue.

I have been here for over 35 years and I am of Asian origin and I never, NEVER had any racism issue from anyone.

No it isn't true that Australian's hate black people visiting or living in the country.

We (Australian citizens) are of many racial backgrounds - we are a very multicultural society and there is no hatred against any race or colour.

Australia is one of the biggest countries that is home to people from other nations, such as Greeks, Asians and Africans. We definitely do not hate any certain race just because of their skin colour! That is absolutely crazy.

If we hate black people so much then why is there so many "black" families that move here because they love it so much? It's hard to tell what nationality anyone is anymore because there are so many bi-racial people. To me, they're a person, not a color like you distinguish us as.

There may be some old school residents that have race issues with blacks, asians etc but that's the same anywhere. Racism unfortunately exists everywhere but we are one of the most multi-cultural countries in the world!!! We welcome everybody.

I have only ever lived in Australia so I don't know how racist we are compared to other countries, but to be honest I'm quite surprised at all the answers claiming that we're not racist at all.

Okay saying we 'hate black people' is not strictly true but if you have never heard white people whinging about Asians 'taking over the place' or Muslims or even more frequently our Indigenous population may I suggest that you can't be leaving your house very often. (I suspect the Aboriginal population regard white folk with an equal amount of dislike.)

Honestly folks, if I told you some Aboriginals were going to move next door to you what would your first thoughts truly be?
