well if I can remember the history that I was taught in High School and thats at least a couple of years ago now the oldest city in Australia is Sydney, followed by Launceston which is where I live currently, til Januaray when I move to Perth so I can be closer to my partner-girlfriend...

anyway I do beleive that to answer your question the SMH-Sydney Morning Herald is the oldest paper in the country to date.

The furst published newspaper was the Sydney Gazette and the New South Wales Advertiser in 1803...so none of the above.....but out of those above it was The Australian.
