G'Day Mate!

I'm an American.

The people in the land of Oz did not turn out to shabby, given a bad start as a penal colony. Well we understand, you can blame it on our mother country, from genreations ago.

I always wondered, being on the bottom side, why you don't fall off the earth?

And why do you have Christmas in the Summer???

We know everybody in AUS, including the Sheilas, wrestles crocodiles like Steve Irwin. We just don't know why.

We just love Crocidile Dundee! He was a smash in New York City, as he was in the Outback. But than we also loved Quigley Down Under.

We love your cuddly Koala BEARS; even though some insist they are Marsupials.

When you hear those things it is either in fun, or a reflection of where and how people advance their ignorance. TV and movies, especially Hollywood, are always good sources of advanced hood-winking, and incredible deception. I saw it on the "Teley**" (T.V.), so it must be true.

Teley - a word we learned from our UK neighbors - serious we have a couple living next door from the UK, on a military assignment here for three years, and great friends.

Crocidile Dundee is as much a representative of the average Australian, as Quigly is a representative of the average American.

My fiancee' met an AU couple on a EU tour several years ago. A few years later she spent a month with them touring your country. In October they spent a month in the US, their second time, and two weeks of that month we (they and us) lived in a motor home, and traveled the American version of the Outback, the American South West. We had a great time together. We can't wait to get back down under and explore and experiance your country. For me it has been a life long goal. One I plan to accomplish soon.

Back to the tongue in cheek... I always wanted to roast an ostrich, and put in on our Thanksgiving table in place of the roast turkey! You native birds are the size of small horses!

I have heard that Australia is a great place to live and that the people are way more relaxed than we are in the U.S. I hear that people don't worry about their job every second of the day, because they are too busy enjoying life.

I also heard that the women are ungodly beautiful.

Is any of this true?

but i know some english people and they ask are we heaps aggressive at pubs..
i have no idea why people are saying we are all criminals
have you seen the stats for american gangs and prisons etc
i feel very safe in aus

You must be talking about yourself when you say we are ugly and fat. Yes there are some but majority are not. Percentage wise we have the most overweight people in world, but overweight includes 1 kg overweight. We are not the most obese country. We do have some of the most attractive people in the world, our blend of cultures gives us the best of the best.

We do not use boomerangs at all, indigenous tribes may but not in everyday society. They call us 'criminals' because of our heritage, we were first a convict colony, have you not reached 9th grade history yet?

The weather is not over the top hot, in the north end you get warm to hot weather all year round but the rest of the country is more of a mild climate. Most people working in the city are in retail and in fact work casual or part time not full time.

Honestly you sound like a 12 year with a lot of growing up to do.. Maybe they should stereotype us as dumb, if you're what's representing us.
