Yeah we dont have put shrimps anywhere near our BBQ's.....we dont hardly do prawns either! Snags and steaks more likely! I think Hoges was paid to say that for all the Yanks that they were trying to con at the time to visit us "down under".

Another thing that craps me off is "fries".....we have CHIPS! (or chups in NZ)....lol

Elizabeth
I have to agree with you on this one.

We have prawns not shrimp but on a barbie I prefer chops and snags.

Prawn, Veggie patties and corn on the cob. Don't forget the onions, meat and sausages.

Had BBQ on Sunday - with Prawns and veggie patties for me on the barbie.

A BLOODY HOT day it was!!

i'm not sure but i have heard that americans call it a shrimp... not positive... but that ad was aimed at americans...

Iskandar
I agree, Prawn, I hate it when people say we say shrimp on the barbie when it's prawn, and I havn't actually heard anyone say throw another prawn on the barbie anyway.

kazzielovessnake
The first time I ever heard that phrase was from Paul Hogan's lips. I didn't know anyone who was a big seafood eater in my youth, other than fish and chips, or crayfish in the summer (if you caught one). I agree it's called a prawn, not a shrimp.

A shrimp is something you get in a chinese takeaway meal, passed off as prawns. I only buy prawns in a 6kg box now. Real prawns, not the teeny-weeny crap. And NEVER on the barbie. Thai green curry prawns, yeah!!
