Australians...I am thinking of selling tables that fold up in a bag to take to the beach, camping,?

bbq's, park, picnic etc. They are really cool, high quality, come in wood or alum...weigh 2 kilos The table's dimensions are as follows: 27"sq, width 27", Ht 16" and depth 27" and folds up into this very small sachel. My question is how much would you be willing to pay for such a thing? My friend invented it and we are trying to figure out what to price it at. thanks in advance.

sorry about the inches...they are nothing like a card table or the camping tables provided in the website on the answer below...I can't reveal too much since I don't want the idea swiped but your answers so far have been really helpful, it is really a totally new thing.

When you say that the table will fold into a small satchel, I might assume the the table top will fold back upon itself a couple of times? There might be a market, however tell your friend that most Aussies become furious when they buy something that is not durable. The table is around 65 centimetres square, so it is a good size. As previously mentioned, you can buy some crap from China for around $40 to $60 that is woeful in quality. If it is innovative and reasonably made, you should be able to sell a few. Market them as card/picnic/camping tables. Good luck mate.

Surely this isn't new? We've been taking our fold up table in bag down to the beach 3 times a year for the past 5 years?! Unless this is a new design or something?

So what's that in Centimeters/Meters?. You gotta make it easy for us ;-). lol

Lots of small foldup tables available for purchase from a range of camping supplies and general stores.

Normally they price anywhere from $60 to over $250 for a large picnic table and 2 benches. http://www.kellyscamping.com.au/table-gateway.htm

From material costs to the time it takes you to make, comparing to other products near it at stores in your area, that is how you determine the price. Pricing near they pack and go chairs might be doable. Good luck sounds like a good plan!

they are already in stores. But if different I would say around $50

Honestly, if it is just something that folds up, I wouldn't want to be paying very much at all. Especially since there is probably something I could get at my local k-mart, Big W or anaconda store. I probably wouldn't spend more than $100 on something like that. I'm also pretty sure there are numerous fold up tables which go into bags already on the market.

bob
i would be willing to pay $40-$50. It's no use if you can fold a table into little piece for picnic but you still need to take along bulky chairs/stoools. Your competition would be those fold up table and seat set at the hardware stores which sits 4. If i'm not mistaken they're about $70-$90. If you like to try out the market, let me know and i can help sell it online and see what the feedback would be like

I have seen many of what you have described in Australia and New Zealand already... for years.
Haven't bought them then, and don't plan to in the future either.

Might help if you posted a link with a photo

rustupd
