Australians Only? |
well, I am from Germany, and many Germans consider to emigrate to Australia, I said to them that I don't like the heat downunder and that I'd rather would prefer a country with cold weather, and Australia is a very hot country. and then they said that Australia has many places where it is cold. I didn't believe them. Are they right or am I right. |

Australia is a big country with a variety of climate conditions.
As you would expect it's hot and humid in the Tropics but in Tasmania it's a totally different story. I'm not in Tasmania but on Saturday the temperature where I am didn't get over 8 degrees C. It should be about 15C and sunny today.
Here is just one example I thought I'd share with you.
"Bushwalker survives freezing Tasmanian weather.
Tasmanian Police that a bushwalker has survived two nights in sub-zero temperatures, lost in central Tasmania. The police had lost hope that the 45 year old William Shaw had survived freezing conditions since Thursday afternoon near Cradle Mountain.
But at about 1pm today (Saturday 26 August 2006), 14km from Cradle Mountain searchers heard a man’s voice and Mr Shaw was found safe and in relatively good condition.
Mr Shaw used some clever survival instincts to protect himself from the cold with temperatures plumeting to –4ºC on the Thursday night, and –5ºC on Friday night." |

Summer
|
Absolutely. Australia varies greatly! I live in Adelaide which has a Mediterranean climate and I am planning to move the Northern Queensland which has a tropical climate and then in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania all have regions where snow falls and on the June 1 the New South Wales and Victorian snow fields ski season has just started. |

Well, as I write now it is bloody cold (8.30pm). I'm on the NSW coast, between Brisbane and Sydney, and during the day it is 23C but at night it's down to 7 or 8C. I am wearing a polo neck sweater and have an electric heater on, and I'm STILL cold!
It never gets too hot here, even in the height of summer (February) the maximum is no more than 32C and more usually about 28C. |

There are some parts of Australia that get rather freezing in the winter time. Of course in the summer time, that place can be extreemly hot, but along the coast, you will find that it is normally fairly good weather, with winter being cold and summer being hot, but with the ability to go cool off at the beach! |

They are right....
In the north of the country, it is warm or hot all year round but down south we have warm summers and cold winters. Tasmania is beautiful and cool all the time I believe (with the exception of summer but that isn't too hot). Where I am from in Exmouth in the north West of Wa, the only times it is nice weather is winter...other than that is is over 40 degrees celcius all the time (which is why I finally moved to the cooler climate of Perth WA as it is beautiful here!) It is currently about 6 degrees celcius outside and I have the heater on and my long pajamas and ugg boots, drinking a hot tea... |
