Just Me

Australians, do u consider the number 87 bad luck?

Coz I read in an article that because the number 13 is considered bad luck world wide, but because Australia is down under so the thing is reversed, so 100 -13 = 87 !!

I do not believe this article, thats why I am asking :)

I'm Australian, and I don't consider 87 as an unlucky number, but I did hear about the cricketthing (13 runs short of a century).

I don't consider 13 to be unlucky as well. In fact it's one of my fav numbers.

Quoting from Wikipedia (see sources for link): "In cricket in Australia, 87 is considered an unlucky score (the devil's number) thought to originate from the fact that 87 is 13 runs short of a century"

lol, no. thats stupid, who said tht? what mag? LMAO...

ok so i asked my mum, she said in cricked ( a game) yes, Because its 13 runs a way form 100.

Haha, the article is probably a joke.

But, it is certainly considered an unlucky score for a batsman to be on in cricket.

Nah, never heard of that one before. Maybe some 86 year old made that one up.

Personally, i think it's just 'believe in whatever you want to believe'.
And people think 13 is bad luck because it's just coincidence~
I mean, think back when you were 13 (yes age counts) years old! I don't remember anything bad happened to me when i was 13.

♥Bubble♥Pop♥Electric♥
Umm no lol, I don't consider either bad luck and I'm in brisbane, australia lol

No, 87 is not bad luck

Incidentally, 13 written upside-down stays as 13. Funny that.

We actually don't have a "bad l.uck " number.

You might have heard about this only because Australian cricketers see 87 is "bad luck" in a sense that 87 runs is NOT what they want to be on when they are in a game as many Aussies playing international cricketers get out at around that 87 runs.

Cheers

no im from australia and never heard of it.

not if you are collingwood on 86,lmfao,go hawks.

Just because Australia is 'down under' doesn't mean everything is reversed. In fact, everything is the same as it is in other parts of the world. And from an Australian's perspective, the Northern Hemisphere is 'down under'.

We're really not into lucky/unlucky numbers here and, as an Australian, I find the number 87 to be completely meaningless.

Many Australians, along with many Westerners, believe that 13 is unlucky but most are unaware of the reason for this. If they understood the history behind 13 being considered unlucky they wouldn't worry about it.
