Not all that often ! It's the sort of thing I crave when I'm sick ! Yes it is commonly used as a spread on bread with butter & tastes good with cheese on sandwiches ...

As a kid I would put an open sandwich under the grill & melt the cheese over the vegemite .....yummmmmmmm !

For me Vegemite has to be spread thinly on buttered, very fresh, white bread or or a fresh white breadroll.

I'd probably have it once a week, on average.

I do like it but not every day.

My daughter on the other hand, had vegemite sandwiches everyday, for her school lunch, for 4 years straight. I did offer her other spreads etc but, no, she wanted Vegemite. (With no butter.)

Zath
every mornign on toast or crumpets

its has a very strong taste so you dont need a whole lot and to much can be sicknign . i do however have a friend who can eat it buy the spoonfull ( shes a real sicko :P )

ll_jenny_ll here
I probably only have it once a week or a fortnight.. BUT there always HAS to be a jar in the cupboard JUST IN CASE...

but there have been times in my life when I ate it everyday ...and I expect there will be again....

you generally have it WITH butter btw,

I like it best on thickly cut fresh white bread ( yeah I know not the most healthiest bread) .. with lots of butter and THINNLY spread vegemite........

One mistake foreigners make in regards to vegemite is to spread it very thickly ... YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THAT .. thinly spread is enough.

Corz
I don't enjoy Vegemite all that much, but sometimes on the rare occasion i'll have it on toast if someone offers it to me in the morning. If you're from another country and have never had it, it's like a very very strong black spread that really should be spread THINLY on the toast/bread/bread-roll - if you put it on really thick, chances are your nose will fall off when you go to take a bite it's that strong... but really it's cracked up to be a little more than it really is. I wouldn't call it something for the country to pride itself on exactly, but it's ok every now and then.

almost everyday

Haha...i have vegemite almost every day!!! I eat the same breakfast every school day so i always have toast w/ vegemite. XD

Kate S
every day on my toast for brekky!
btw NO!!! thats why so many foreigners hate vegemite, they treat it like butter and slather it on the bread. you get a peice of bread put some butter on it, then put a light layer of vegemite on top! It's especially good when it's on toast and the butter and vegemite melt together...*drool*mmmm sounds good, i'm gonna have some now!

Ozmaniac
I usually have it once or twice a week on buttered toast, and like Aussie the 2nd, it's something I enjoy when I'm sick.

My brother eats about 500 grams of it every week and when he lived in the US, we shipped it to him by the case.

Australians also eat butter and jam and peanut butter.

Jess
I have it probably every second day. Either on toast with butter/margarine or on crackers, sometimes with cheese as well.

Vegemite is treated like jam, butter and peanut butter in that it's a spread. But since the taste is quite a bit more stronger than the other spreads, it's used in less amounts (because it's much saltier, raather than sweet).

Although not many people are a big fan of vegemite, but probably because they don't eat it the right way =P toast with melted mutter and vegemite is the way to go ;)

I myself eat up to 3 slices of vegemite toast a day =D

I eat vegemite either every day or every second day on muffins (english), crumpets or toast. Sometimes i dip cheese sticks in as well or spread it on Vitaweets and put Cheese on top.

3 times a week , one of my sandwiches for lunch at work

I don't eat it often at all, I don't really like the taste. I think it is something that you have to be introduced to young, it has a very strong taste and takes some getting used to. Yeah, here in australia we have it on sandwiches and toast, its just a spread like peanut butter or jam. Nothing special.

Dan
Not all Australians enjoy Vegemite. It doesn't mean anything whether you enjoy it or not. We all have a mind of our own and don't think "It's Aussie to eat Vegemite."

I personally do not like it as I prefer sweet things. It is too strong for my liking.

molly
At least every second day sometimes every day on my toast.

Probably 4 times a week. I'm a dabber though, i don't like to put too much on my bread.

A good serving of vegemite on really fresh bread is so good. Admittedly I do only have it every few weeks though. Its also good on toast, yuuummm.

We eat it everyday with a little bit of butter on toast. Yum yum.

Rod Rye
I only eat it every few months, but then I might eat it every morning for a week. Goes well with cheese. I would eat it alot more often if the local bakery still had vegemite+cheese scrolls left when I visited.

I have NEVER eaten peanut butter + jam together, but both seperatly of course. Probably peanut butter more often than jam.

Most common mistake people make with vegemite is spreading it anything like peanut butter or jam. Generally you'd spread it more like wasabi, unless you really really like it.

Iskandar
When I feel like it, sometimes it ill just sit in the fridge and i'll forget about it, then one day ill say "hey why don't I have vegemite on this toast". Maybe twice a month.

I am not big on spreads.

Mel
I have it for breaky on weekdays. I have two slices of toast on one I like vegemite, spread very very thinly so you can still see the toast through it.

Vegemite is something you either love or hate, but you only ever want to eat it in the smallest amounts.

I'm australian and i hate vegemite!! It's ok if its with cheese but i actually like jam and peanut butter wayyyyy better.

PuppyPrince
I'm Australian and I find the stuff totally inferior to Marmite, the English "rival" that is much stronger and tastes waaaaay better. Vegemite manages to be both weak and very nasty-tasting.
