I'm a student. So i'd end up saving the stimulus package. Whereas, I tend not to notice tax cuts because I don't pay alot of tax. So how much would I be saving in tax cuts? Not much. |

id rather the the stimulus package, if it does get passed ill be saving the money for a house deposit, im a stay at home mum so i dont pay any tax and if we do get a tax cut it wouldnt really help much of us cause it would be very small |

I am no economist but I would rather the money be spent on infastructure such as hospitals. |

Either would be fine with me.
They would both end up being spent by the majority of people.
If Malcolm Turnbull has his way none of us will have to worry which we prefer because we won't get either. |

If we had more answers, maybe this question could be answered with more confidence.
The first stimulus package gave away $8.9 billion in cash payments.
Retail spending went up by between $700 million and $1 Billion.
Where did the other $7.9 Billion go ?
This was supposed to be spent to push the economy along, it appears it wasn't. Therefore, will the same happen with Stimulus no 2 ?
Will it be wasted, and not re-vitalise the economy ?
But I am not sure which of Rudds Cash for all, or Turnbulls Tax Cuts will actually be best for the country.
A lump sum does tend to be saved or spent on overseas made TV's etc., whilst tax cuts do end up being spent in dribs and drabs, on odds and ends, but with more benefit to the country.
We need an real expert economist to answer the question, one without any Political ties. |

As a spender, it's always nice to have a lump sum, but as a taxpayer who wants it to have the desired effect of stimulating spending across the board, a tax cut would be much more effective. People tend to save lump sums or blow them on imported consumer goods. Tax cuts end up in supermarkets and other retail stores and services. |
