well the beer of preference in a standard pub is Swan.
In one of the Matilda Bay Brewing Group pub, it`s a Redback.

The two major WA beers are Emu and Swan. Fosters is brewed in the UK and other parts of the world as no Australians will drink it. We used to but then we acquired some taste.

Tooheys is a NSW beer as is Reschs and Tooths. West End and Southwark are from South Australia which is also the home of the magnificent Coopers beers. Victoria is Carlton and United which makes Victoria Bitter, Melbourne Bitter, Crown Lager, Carlton Draught etc. Queensland produces Fourex (Castlemaine XXXX). Tasmania has two of Australia's greatest breweries in Cascade and Boags.

Most Australian beers are now to be found in all States although most pubs leave West End and Southwark to the South Australians. There are also some smaller breweries producing beers like Tennants Lager, Cairns Draught etc.

There are also quite a few pubs that brew their own There are two or three of these in Perth, particularly in Fremantle.

Corona is a tasteless import that idiots stick pieces of lemon in. I suppose the lemon gives it some taste.

When you are in Australia, taste all the beers, there are plenty on offer. Don't forget the Old beers and Carlton Black which are dark beers with plenty of flavour but they are not stouts like Guinness. Pick the one you like but be prepared to change as not all beers are offered everywhere. In Sydney, for instance, I drink Reschs but it isn't available in northern NSW where I live.

If you ask for Fosters, everyone will know you are a foreigner and you will be suspected of being English and watching Neighbours.

West Aussie Chick
I live in the west and must say that I have never drank nor seen any of my friends drink Fosters. EVER. Most drink Emu Bitter (EB). After years of beer drinking, my hubby and I have gotten over the cheaper beers though and prefer Corona although it is twice as expensive as Emu but also twice as yummy!

Based how you asked this question, it took a while to work out what you actually meant, but Ibelieve the beer of choice in Perth is Fosters, though it holds nothing over Tooheys New, in my opinion.

Ken E
Swan Lager, Swan Lager,
You killed my old man.
Swan Lager Swan Lager,
Now kill me if you can.

Australians mostly leave Fosters Lager for the poor mugs oversea who have nothing better.

Since you were already drunk while asking the question, shouldn't you be the one to tell us ;).

My preference definitely was Toohey's New when I was there and that also seemed to be more popular with the people I knew. There were some people who liked Emu better, but not as many. In terms of Fosters, I don't think I met anyone who drank it.

I was there for 6 months.

Moondog
Or XXXX.
