You will "love" it over there, what ever part you choose, and if you don`t like where you are move on until you find what you want. Its a huge country (52 times bigger than the UK")

Cost of living is like everywhere esle, your "£" will get you just over $2 Aussie money, and when you start work you`ll be paid in Aust:$ and you spend in Aust:$. The trick is when you go out there, change as much sterling into Aust:$ as you`ve got that will give you a good financial start.

Jobs, check out the Australian web site, and contact Australia House in the UK they will tell you whats needed.

Remember they are still a "young" country and they seem to have a forward looking government, not like here, we`ve got an unelected by the public PM who hasn`t got a clue, dose`nt look the part is a ditherer (and thats not blameing him for the bank fiasco) but in general.

Chances are, with quals in media or music, they wouldn't fall over themselves to offer you a visa. They want skilled tradesmen like bakers, joiners, electricians, nurses etc.
Cost of living is rising, like everywhere else in the world!
But it is beautiful, people are so friendly, outback is a spiritual experience and the outdoors lifestyle beats the uk hands down.

Property's expensive now.

Imagine
I can live there legally and comfortably but choose not to.
It is lacking in soul and has had its heyday. Too isolated.
For those already there it may be quite ok and dont they keep ramming it down everyones throat.
But nowadays to start a life in australia is just an uphill grind.
And they're short of water and racially paranoid !!

p.s.
I guess I'd better go back soon mow my lawn check that my tenants are ok and maybe see a few friends all of whom are lovely asian people. Not for long though. Boring. I like the bigger world.
