Australia has the same situation at you do. We have unskilled refugee's that 'take over' Australia yet do not assimilate to our way of life.

We have illegal refugee's many of whom are allowed to stay, others are deported and the majority are imprisoned in refugee camps.

Skilled workers are in high demand in Australia and those workers WANT to be Australian. There is no problem with genuine immigrants.

Yes if you complain your 'racist' and I'll probably be frowned upon for saying this, but, if you want to live in Australia then damn well act Australian! Same goes for the UK.

We all tippy toe around, but I don't care what people think, I let my opinion be heard, truth is everyone else thinks the same they're just to weak to say it.

One strong opinion of mine is that EVERY immigrant from a non-english speaking country should have to undertake English classes before being giving residency and should have the courtesy and respect of our country to speak english, at least outside the home.

The only unskilled immigrants that Australia accepts are those who are deemed to be refugees from war or oppression. Unfortunately, some of them from particular religious groups are unwilling to assimilate with the wider community and many Australians feel that we should be somewhat more selective in who we accept. I personally believe that immigration enriches our society and that it is good from an economic point of view but feel that immigrants from cultures with a poor track record in assimilation should not be accepted.

Your country is a little different to yours as we have more space.I personally have found most immigrants do settle into our lifestyle after a few years. We do have the pack type immigrants mainly Asians who do not assimilate as easily into our mainstream Aussie ways.We also have a few races that dont seem to be able to leave their cultural problems back in their old Country, but on the whole we all seem to get allong as best we can.We have more problems with illegal immigrants who think that they can jump the queue and in this matter I feel that we have every right to send them home.

Totally agree with you,,Im in Qld ,Oz and a large business in town brought in a heap of migrants from Brazil,,skilled and unskilled,,to work for them,,within the first 3/4 months the whole lot had done the bolt and gone elsewhere once they had been made permanent residents !

Strange that our biggest intake of migrants tend to be whites from Africa, Europe and poms, who often end up in their own little Johannesburgs or little londons, these are the ones who import their own brand of racist ideology that they couldn't exercise back home. Kiwis migrate in droves and my apologies to Kiwi's, I am not calling Kiwi's racists, they more than anyone are more like us Aussies, but a lot more compassionate. Atleast they still have enough of a backbone left to find a place for those poor souls who have been victimised by the previous Australian government.

Australia is a country of migrants and has been for some time. Its amusing that the children and grandchildren of peasant farmers from Italy or Greece have contributed so much towards this country, to the same extent as their parents. Most migrants are law abiding, its just idiots like you take a few beat up media stories about so called 'gangs' and paint whole communities with the same brush.

Our migrants have contributed more than you (most likely) in regard to economics and culture, from chinese in the goldfields (vegetables) to the Irish (builders & labourers), they are the backbone of this great country. You my little friend are longing for a white dominated WASPish culture that has been dead for a long long time, which was happy to exploit everyone who didn't fit into their precious racists paradise.

I'm prepared to take a stand. I totally agree with you. If we attempted to move to their country and change it into a little Aussie town or Little Britain, I'm pretty sure they'd have something to say about it and no-one will tell them they're being racist. For some reason the world reckons only white people can be racist, but any slander against another culture is racist. No matter if your black, white, muslim or asian.

We have a lot of asians come to Australia, well in Queensland anyways. South Bank is practically another Japan. And fair enough sometimes it's better to move to places like Australia and England because they are safer places to live. But it gets me so mad when people who migrate believe they have a say in how our society is run. They try to change things to suit their cultures. And what really gets on my nerves is when they speak their language in public. You can't tell what they're saying, and I find it totally disrespectful and arrogant.

They're homes are for celebrating their culture and speaking their language, not Aussie streets. If I went to their country I would try my best to be like them, and do what their culture believes. My home would be the only place I'd be an Australian again. If you love your country so much you want to change Australia and England into it... then go home! If you'd like to be like us (Australian/British) we'd love you to come and stay with us no problems at all <3

yeah, we have heaps of space and i think are open minded enough to accept everybody.
why the heck should jobs be reserved for british people????
break down the boarders and realise we live on one earth...the same species.
we are one of the most peaceful countrys on earth, because we are educated and have been raised that way.
anyone that visits and lives in australia will see that our uniqueness comes from so many different cultures being here.
or leaders are doing a good job and our economy can support more migrants.
we are still a growing country, with plenty of love.

Like ozmaniac said, immigration enriches our societies. I especially like having a wide range of choices in restaurants. Do you have a lot of problems with illegals in the UK, I assume so? We were getting off a train in Paris (We only were going to Paris to get on the Chunnel, otherwise I would never go to Paris, promise.) and the Frenchie cops had caught a bunch of illegals trying to get in. Back in August 2001 a boatfull of illegals started to sink in the Indian Ocean and a Norwegian freighter saved them. There was a lot of cursing out the illegals and praying they wouldn't get in between me, my friends and the customers in the bar where I worked. Norway and Australia then got in a big fight because the Norwegian boat was losing something like 60,000 euros every day, or something crazy like that, so of course Oslo was yelling at Canberra and we were like, we don't want them. I think the Australian government paid some island like Palau to take them. What really drives me crazy is the silly twits that say they are people, too. They diserve the right to a comfy life. Yeah, but not at the expense of my economy and well-being.

Anyways, I love the way Sydney is so diverse (London, too), but I agree, and so do a lot of my friends, that it needs to be closely monitored.
