It depends where you are going in South Australia. Melbourne to Adelaide is a comfortable eight hour trip with about half the journey in Victoria and half in South Australia. If you take the coastal route via the Great Ocean Road to Mt Gambier and then north to Adelaide it will take about two hours longer. |

Yes, I know.
From Melb to the border is a bit over 4 hours.
To Adelaide is around 7, I think. |

The duration of travel is approx. 7.5 HRS, depending on traffic flow and speed.

It all depends on where you are going, and which way you want to go. If you are travelling direct from Melbourne to Adelaide, you could expect it to take around 8 hours give or take a bit. |

You should listen to tentofield.
I prefer the drive through Mt Gambier, but it is a longer journey.
Either way it's a days drive. |

If you want to allow for delays and a stop or two along the way, plan on a comfortable 10 hours. If you are in a hurry, then around 8 hours as stated. |
