Best Sydney location to live?

Hi, my friends and i are looking to move out in Sydney somewhere and want to know the best place for us to rent. We all work in the CBD but want to live just outside so that we arent right in there. Want somewhere close to trains (walking distance) to get to work. Also want to be close to places to go out and local pubs etc. On weekends love to go to markets. We want a pretty social area to live, close to get to work and where the rent is cheap but for ok neighbourhood. We are aged 22-27.

Thanks for your help!

Manly as it's so unspoilt with plenty to see and do.

Coogee/Randwick area. The bus service is really good and will go to the city or to the train station. It is a nice area and not too expensive as Sydney goes. Manly is beautiful but more expensive. You can either take a boat to the city which has you there in 20 minutes maximum and is always ontime or you can get a bus to the train station. Boat is handier though and a relaxing way of getting to work. Pollution free.

Maroubra Junction - not far from city beach life - cafes/restaurants/clubs etc

If only everything was this easy! MANLY. Amazing beaches, nightlife & just a short ferry or jet cat ride to the CBD.

Coogee or Bondi - both fabulous places to live and travel into Sydney from. Cheaper than inner city anyway. Both fab beaches, what else can I say? Buses from Coogee to train station all on one ticket!

Bondi is only for tourists. All the expats seem to live in Manly and it is a really nice area. Mosman and Chatswood are some of my favorites

Bondi Junction I love there and I love it, it is so close to wbj
